The 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe Dazzles in All Aspects
The Genesis revolution, which is rapidly changing luxury and performance in the automotive space, is about to get even more intriguing. The carmaker prides itself on creating a unique customer experience and vehicles to offer a high-standard driving experience. The Genesis GV80 was already an enticing family option, but now the 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe builds upon it with distinct and elegant upgrades. Is it worth waiting for?
Yes, the 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe is worth waiting for. If you’re looking to turn heads with an engaging coupe that goes beyond the average sporty car with refined performance and rugged capabilities, then this car should be on your list.
I witnessed the reactions to the brand-new Coupe during its debut ahead of the LA Auto Show, and it’s a head-turner. While most luxury SUVs built for family use are getting bulkier, the GV80 Coupe has a slender, attractive profile to stand out in a crowded segment – and it also has enough room for your passengers.

1. The Genesis GV80 Coupe isn’t just a Sporty Vehicle
Every single aspect of the GV80 Coupe has been carefully planned and executed to deliver optimal performance, improve drive engagement, blend an athletic/high-performance experience, and provide ultimate family comfort.
The 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe is certainly athletic with plenty of power. But it goes beyond the typical coupe nature. For example, I bet the word ‘coupe’ makes you picture an ultra-expensive two-door vehicle that sticks to the pavement.
However, while the GV80 Coupe is sporty and refined, it’s also capable of rugged upgrades to tackle light off-roading challenges and inclement weather situations.
The intelligent AWD system includes a new Terrain Mode to adjust to off-road or rough conditions automatically. It detects road conditions and controls the driving force to prevent the wheels from slipping.
Plus, you can use Snow, Mud, and Sand modes to optimize torque distribution and ensure traction. The E-LSD system independently controls the right and left wheels for balance and stability.
If you want to open things up, the GV80 Coupe is built on a rear-wheel drive platform with a stiff, light frame. There are driving modes for Sport and Comfort. Performance gauges display your oil temperature, torque, and turbo pressure.

2. Hybrid Power Takes the 2025 GV80 Coupe to the Next Level
The 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe isn’t electric yet. But Genesis plans to offer a fully electric lineup by 2023, so I bet the EV version is coming.
The standard GV80 Coupe engine is a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four unit with 304 hp. It has a dual injection system to inject fuel in the most efficient manner automatically.
Next up, there is the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine that cranks out 380 hp. Its central-mounted fuel injector increases injection speed and improves combustion stability.
Then, the hybrid setup pairs the 3.5-liter V6 engine with a 48V supercharger for 415 hp. The electric power helps optimize performance and fuel consumption.
Unfortunately, the official EPA ratings for the GV80 Coupe haven’t been replaced. Until then, the Genesis GV90 Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 17 mpg in the city and up to 24 mpg on the highway. The GV80 Coupe could do a little better, but only time will tell.

3. The GV80 Coupe Stands Out
I’m glad that the 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe is here to change the game. We’ve all heard people complain that everything looks the same these days.
But the GV80 Coupe is distinct and authentic with a distinct aerodynamic design, a high-performance personality, and luxurious accents. Dark chrome garnishes the belt line and door handles with a tantalizing hint of darkness.
You have your choice between 20 or 22-inch wheels with striking geometric spokes. The brake calipers are available in red or black.
The classic Genesis Double G Matrix Patterned Crest grille has been elongated to meet the front bumper for a unique athletic style. It’s framed by dual MLA headlamps that also light up on sections of the front doors.
The rear combination lamp is integrated into the spoiler as a coupe bumper, and a dual rear muffler completes the look. Nine paint colors are available, but my favorite is Bearing Blue. It’s a new take on the popular Cement color for cars with light blue hues.
4. The 2025 GV80 Coupe Keeps Families in Mind
The 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe could make for one exciting family SUV. Sure, it may offer less cargo space than the regular GV80, but it still makes an effort to provide families with plenty of room.
At 5’1”, the front seats felt excellent, with plenty of adjustment controls for taller folks. The side bolstering isn’t intrusive, and the slim design of the center console frees up space for movement and stretching. I also fit in the backseat pretty well, with room to stretch my legs. There’s enough room and cup holders for four adults and maybe one smaller child.
While the cargo capacity specs aren’t out yet, I’m willing to bet that they’ll be impressive. The cargo hold looked massive. It holds 664L of gear. Storing bags, strollers, the dog, and more should be easy. Other storage areas include a rear center console and a massive glove box.
Plus, safety is a top priority thanks to features like Highway Driving assist, Remote Smart Parking assist, a 360-degree camera system, a 10 airbag system, an intelligent front lighting system, lane keeping assist, blind spot warning, forward collision avoidance assist, and safe exit.
5. The GV80 Coupe Doesn’t Sacrifice Comfort
The 2025 Genesis GV80 delivers unmatched comfort and pampering with intuitive tech. For example, you get heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and even a heated armrest. This is paired with ventilated seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and rear vents for passengers.
Speaking of passengers, the second-row seats can slide, recline, and tilt for custom comfort. The plush upholstery includes Nappa quilted leather, suede-covered surfaces, real wood/carbon trim pieces, and an artificial silk car mat. Plus, the driver and front passenger seats are 12-way power-adjustable with lumbar support. Use the Mood Curator to provide the right vibes from Vitality, Delight, Care, and Comfort.
The Preview ECS system uses a forward-facing camera to scan the road, allowing the suspension to adjust automatically to changing conditions to provide a smooth ride.
I’ve driven every Genesis model in the lineup, so I’m confident the sound insulation will be up to par for a peaceful ride.
Do you think the Genesis GV80 Coupe is worth waiting for? I’m scheduled to get behind the wheel soon, so stay tuned for updates. I’ll be happy to answer all your questions!
