Going from Carriages to Cars: What Would Bridgerton’s Ladies Drive?

We love all-things-Bridgerton: What if the fancy carriages became Cars?
Yes, It’s finally here! Season 2 of the Netflix smash hit Bridgerton is just getting started. Early 19th-century style takes center stage with couture dresses, swanky suits, and opulent decor. What if the Briderton characters were transported to our time? I’m sure what they are driving would also be a chance for each young lady to express their individuality and, in some cases, their supremacy in their social circles.
As with last season, upper-class young women are formally introduced to society at Queen Charlotte’s Ball. They elegantly walk the “gauntlet” as everyone who is anyone watches in awe as each woman is presented to the monarch at the Royal Court. Queen Charlotte selects one debutant to be the Diamond of the Season. Season two follows the Diamond as well as a number of other girls’ attempts at finding a husband. Of course, the men are fighting to win the hearts of these young ladies as well.

Edwina Sharma
Let’s imagine that debutants arrive in cars rather than carriages. What might they drive? “The Diamond” for season 2 is Edwina Sharma. She’s sweet, shy, and innocent. Her dress at the ball is a gorgeous blush frock. While a pink Cadillac from years ago might have been a good fit, it’s the 2023 All-Electric Jaguar I-Pace in a pearl finish that I’m voting for. It shows that she’s smart, sensible, cares about the environment.

Kate Sharma
Next up is Edwina’s strong-willed older sister Kate. Her first priority is her sister’s happiness. She is the brick wall potential suitors must break through in order to ask for Edwina’s hand in marriage.

Picture her in a convertible with her hair protected by an opulent scarf. She dramatically throws it in the air upon her arrival at the Queen’s Ball. My vote? This red 2022 Ford Mustang Convertible.

Penelope Featherington

Queen Charlotte
Queen Charlotte takes the lead for another London social season. Even with Whistledown still sniffing around for gossip, the queen has ways of dealing with the gossipmonger and making sure her Diamond finds a great match.

I’m torn between choosing a bad-ass sports car and a more regal sedan to replace her carriages. Which would you choose? The Bentley Flying Spur Sedan or the Maserati MC20.

Mary Sharma
When she was young, Mary Sharma married a common worker who already had a child from a previous marriage. Scandalous in the London scene, she moved back to India for a while. This was a time when marriages were almost contractual within the aristocracy. Mary left for love.

Now she’s come back home so her daughter Edwina can find a suitable husband. As a devoted mother to her children, I picture Mary driving a Luxurious Lincoln Navigator so that everyone, even her dog, can ride in style.

Eloise Bridgerton
Of course, we can’t forget a few of the ladies from the Bridgerton family. This season Eloise hopes to follow in the footsteps of her sister Daphne’s marital success story. It’s her turn for a societal debut.

However, Eloise would much rather skip the galas and balls altogether. She is still consumed with finding out the identity of Lady Whistledown, who is actually her best friend Penelope. Eloise is a bit of a “nerd” in many ways. She has a unique sense of style and doesn’t care what anyone thinks of her. I think the Chevy Spark is just the car for her.

Violet Bridgerton
Last, but certainly not least, Violet is the kind Bridgerton mother who wants nothing but the best for her children. At the same time, she doesn’t mind bending the ear of the queen to add a little influence as well as their friendship continues from last season.

This season, Violet is more concerned about finding a match for one of her sons but also keeps an eye on young Eloise in her debutante year. Similar to Mary Sharma, I picture Violet in a stylish family car with all the bells and whistles. Since Voilet still has a few younger children to transport, I recommend the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica.

While riding in a horse-drawn-carriage might seem romantic these days, there’s nothing like getting behind the wheel. If the woman of Bridgerton had the chance, I bet they’d jump out of their carriages and into these awesome cars.
