What Cars Would Marvel’s Eternals Drive? A Massive Fan Makes Predictions

Superheros drive cars and drink coffee, right?
If you’re a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) chances are you saw Marvel’s Eternals when it was released to theaters in November 2021 or caught it recently on Disney+. Or maybe both. These near God-like super beings are fascinating and we want to know more about them, like how they take their coffee and what kind of cars they drive. I can’t be the only one wondering “If Marvel’s Eternals had cars, what kind of cars would they be?” Now you’re wondering, too, so let’s have some fun guessing together.

If Marvel’s Eternals had cars…
The Eternals have lived on earth for 7 million years. Cars became widely available in the early twentieth century and the movie is set in present-day. Even though the movie doesn’t specifically address car ownership, it’s certainly possible that some of them owned cars or will in the future.

Lexus + Marvel
Lexus came out with some pretty amazing concept cars created for each character to coincide with the release in theaters. Each otherworldly custom-wrapped “Eternals” automobile was inspired by the unique individual armor design, iconography and super power of each Eternal. In addition, a golden glow emanates from the vehicles’ grilles and underbodies, reflecting the characters’ shared energy signature as seen in the film. These concept vehicles have been featured in various media events, including the red carpet premiere of Eternals.
“We’re excited to bring the ‘Eternals’ partnership to life through these custom-wrapped Lexus vehicles,” said Vinay Shahani, Lexus vice president of marketing. “Just as each Eternals character has a distinct style and set of capabilities, so does each character-themed Lexus.”
In celebration of the Eternals’ arrival on streaming platforms, I’ve created my own list. The concept cars are fun to ooh and ahh over because they’re seriously cool but the cars I picked are available for you and I, too. It’s fun to dream and to assign cars to the Eternals based on their respective traits and powers. It will be fun to see how this list might evolve over time, with the introduction of new characters that will weave into the Eternals’ stories within the MCU.

1. Ajak
At the beginning of the movie, Ajak, played by Salma Hayek, is the Prime Eternal, which means she was in charge and the only one who could directly communicate with the Celestials, who created the Eternals and sent them to Earth for their mission.

As the leader, Ajak is responsible and almost motherly in her concern for the feelings and well-being of the other Eternals. She needs a ride that’s practical but still cool. I put her in the Lexus GX SUV.

Lexus and I agree on what Ajak should drive. The Lexus GX Ajak has a dreamy blue and cream wrap that’s fun to imagine owning, but the very capable GX SUV comes in several more attainable colors and you can buy one if you are in the market for an SUV.

2. Ikaris
Ikaris, played by Richard Madden, has a bit of a Bond vibe going on. He’s handsome and confident but he’s more than eye candy. He can, after all, fly and shoot beams of light from his eyes.

As a nod to Ikaris’ confidence, sophistication and speed, I put him in an Aston Martin Vanquish. There have been a lot of Bond cars over the years but the Vanquish is standout for me. I’ve never driven one but I’ve seen one in the wild and got to listen to the roar of its engine when the owner started it up, per my request in the parking lot of a winery. That was a scenario that probably could have gotten weird but it actually wasn’t.

Meet Lexus’ pick, the Ikaris x Lexus LS. The LS, Lexus’ flagship luxury sedan, is a match for the tactical leader of the Eternals.

3. Sersi
Sersi, played by Gemma Chan, is my favorite Eternal. She’s the woman who seems to have it all but she’s so kind and genuine that you can’t dislike her for being nearly perfect, even though she’s dating John Snow from Game of Thrones and Ikaris is still carrying a torch for her.

Out of all the eternals, Sersi is the empathetic and the most concerned with humankind, which doesn’t reduce her fierceness one bit. Her kind nature adds a little extra depth to her character and makes you a little extra invested in her success and happiness.
I chose a Volkswagen ID4 for Sersi. This sleek, minimalist all-electric car is environmentally friendly and intuitive. I think she would appreciate the initiative of a greener ride and the simplified maintenance that goes along with an EV. When you have the power to alter sentient matter, you might shy away from a car that screams “Look at me now!” While the aesthetic of the Volkswagen ID4 is definitely not “get lost in the crowd” it does strike a perfect balance between great-looking and subtle.

Lexus’ pick: one of their most most powerful cars, the RC F. While Sersi is no-doubt one of the film’s most powerful characters and sure to love this car – I mean, look at it – I feel like her need to blend in with the humans might make driving this one a little challenging.

4. Kingo
There are a lot of words to describe Kingo, portrayed by Kumail Nanjiani. Bollywood legend. Strong. Cheeky. Arrogant, although not to the point where you can’t like him.

Kingo is a guy who loves the spotlight so he needs a car that loves the spotlight, too. I put him in a Ferrari SF90 Spider. There is absolutely nothing subtle about this car or Kingo and I think they’re meant to be together.
The SF90 Spider is Ferrari’s first plug-in hybrid Spider. I think it would please Kingo to be on the cutting edge of new technology.

Lexus’ pick is the IX 350. The wrap on the concept car is pure Kingo. When you see a picture of all the concept cars in a lineup, this one jumps out and you and says “Property of Kingo.”

Mad props to Lexus for nailing this one. After all, it’s highly doubtful a guy like Kingo is going to have just one car in his garage. This is the same car Kingo drives in the “Parking Spot video.” It gives you a good look at the car in a color available to the people of Earth. No superpowers required.
5. Thena
Thena, played by Anjelina Jolie, is the goddess of war, so of course she needs to drive something extra badass.

It’s a little daunting to pick out a car for someone who can make weapons out of thin air and still look perfect but I’m confident Thena would love the Kia Stinger. The Stinger’s sleek style exudes power and refinement, and even thought it’s a four door, there’s something a little bit wild about it. I thought she needed a car that could keep up with her and allow maximum versatility.
And, although goddess of war can certainly choose her own paint and trim color, the 2022 model Stinger is available in Snow White Pearl with red leather seat trim. That combo would be my pick.

Thena’s all-white armor is the most striking, in my opinion, and Lexus has carried this luminous hue into the Thena Lexus LC 500 concept. The regular Lexus LC 500 – and somehow, it seems just wrong to describe the LC 500 as “regular” – is a really fun and speedy drive and I can totally see Thena springing out of this car to join the battle.

6. Makkari
Played by Lauren Ridloff, Makkari is Marvel’s first deaf hero. I love Marvel’s authenticity is casting an deaf actress to play a deaf character.

Although not being able to hear doesn’t make Makkari any less impressive, a hearing impaired person needs extra car technology. Hyundai is out front with technology for deaf drivers. Hyundai uses AI to hone in on deaf drivers’ sense of touch and sight, which are typically more finely tuned in deaf or hearing impaired people.
Technology for hearing impaired uses vibrations, lights, and enhanced heads up display alert drivers to potential hazards and alerts them to things like other people honking or ambulance sirens. Cool, huh?

This one’s a tie. I recently drove the 2022 Hyundai Tuscon and was very impressed with it and wanted to pick it as Makkari’s ride. If she wanted to step it up and get in to more of a luxury vehicle, I like the Genesis GV70. Genesis and Hyundai are co-owned so it’s possible that Hyundai’s technology for hearing impaired drivers would extend to the Genesis models.

Since Makkari is the fastest Eternal, Lexus put her in a fast car. The Lexus RC F Track Edition concept is built for speed.

7. Sprite
Although Sprite doesn’t look older enough to have a driver’s license, appearances deceive. Millions of years old, Sprite is perpetually in the body of a preteen. The character’s frustrations about this is one of the sublots of the movie. Even though many of us dream of being perpetually young, Sprite’s perspective gives us another look at what this would actually be like.

The actress who portrayed Sprite, Lia McHugh, was 15 at the time Eternals was filmed, which is the age when we all have dreams about what our first car is going to be.
I’d put Sprite (and Lia, too!) in a Lexus NX 350. It’s a compact SUV that’s easy to drive and park. The tech on this car is extensive and very intuitive, which is great for a newer or younger driver. It’s luxurious and gorgeous without being ostentatious. Someone who looks like a 12-year-old and has mad superpowers probably doesn’t want to attract attention with a super-flashy car.

Marvel comes pretty close to agreeing with me on this one. The Lexus NX 250 Sprite concept car is compact, powerful, and the blue, gold, and turquoise wrap gives this concept car an ethereal appearance. Sprite was probably my least favorite Eternal but I think this wrap is my favorite of all the Lexus concept cars.
8. Gilgamesh
I see solid, strong, and loyal Gilgamesh, portrayed by Don Lee, as a more complex character that what appears on the surface. After Sersi, I think Gilgamesh was my favorite. I loved the contrast between him being so strong and so powerful and having a personality that was clearly down to earth. I mean…no one wears a “Kiss the Cook” apron unless they’re real and down to earth, right?

For me, the perfect balance between rugged and powerful and “I could grab a beer and some ribs with this guy” relatable is a RAM truck. RAM trucks are strong and rugged but there’s more to these trucks than their power and ability to get it done. Just like Gilgamesh. I’ve driven several RAM trucks over the years and while I’m always impressed with their capabilities, there’s so much to discover on the inside, like comfortable office space and luxury trim.

Gilgamesh is the second Eternal Lexus put in an LX 570. The copper and gold wrap with green accents is so visually stunning but if you’re looking for something a tiny bit less extra, you’re in luck because it’s an attainable choice for most buyers interested in an SUV.

9. Phastos
Phastos is played by Brian Tyree Henry. He’s a brilliant inventor and a loving dad and husband. Although I really love the car Lexus designed for Phastos, I feel like present-day Phastos is trying to be a little more low key than a guy who’d drive an SUV with golden planets on the hood.

I put Phastos in the Audi Q5. The sculpted, interesting lines of the Q5 Sportback and slick design features throughout would impress the engineer side of Phastos. On the practical side of things, Phastos is a dad and the Q5 Sportback checks all the boxes, including safety, space and comfort.

Lexus’ pick for Phastos was a LX570 SUV. The real LX570 – the one that comes in regular but still cool colors – has lots of power and style and functions well as an everyday family car. I like to think Phastos and his husband are a two car family and that they could have both.

10. Druig
Druig, played by Barry Keoghan, has the ability to manipulate other peoples’ thoughts and manipulate reality. His character is aloof and mysterious. Druig is the character I’d be most intimidated by in real life.

While there’s an element of elusiveness to Druig’s personality, I can’t put him in a low-key car. Druig’s car was the hardest for me to pick and the one I went back and forth on the most but I ultimately landed on the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody.
This review by Elizabeth is probably one of my favorite car reviews ever. I feel like I’m in the car with her wearing red lipstick and a leather jacket and it gives all the info you’d want on then some on the Charger SRT Hellcat.
I’ve seen and heard these cars in person, although the closest I’ve come to driving one is the Durango Hellcat. The Charger SRT Hellcat is going to make you notice it as soon as the engine starts and it may intimidate you. It’s Druig’s car. That’s all.

Lexus chose the GX for Druig’s concept car, which is a nod to the character’s super strength and stamina. I can respect their choice, although I can’t help but see him as being more of a muscle car guy.

Choosing cars for super heroes – Fun no matter how you look at it
I loved picking cars for this group of my new favorite additions to the MCU. It was also fascinating to see the similarities between my picks and Lexus’ picks. It’s fun to see different interpretations of these character’s personality traits and how they translate to a car. This also made me realize this isn’t something that’s ever driven a car purchase for me. Maybe it should.
It’s hard to compare their stunning, custom Eternals wraps to the things we’ll see in dealerships or at a Carvana but these Lexus vehicles have a “regular color” counterpart so it’s entirely doable to pick your favorite Eternal’s car and have it for your own. A little bit of a stretch? Maybe so, but that’s part of the fun and magic of loving these heroes we see on the screen.
