8 Road Trip Destinations to Visit on the East Coast

July 24, 2021 by Monica Siembieda 2 Comments

It’s time for a road trip! 📸GIPHY

Where can the car take you?

A road trip is always a good idea. And with all the uncertainty there is right now, many people are turning to car rides and road trips instead of traveling by air, boat or train (which most are banned now anyway).

Growing up with immigrant parents, traveling and seeing this country was on their mind constantly. Going on road trips has been part of my life since I was a year old. This is a great way to see more of the world, instead of just from up high in an airplane. And because it’s not exactly the best idea to fly right now, why not hit the road to ease your mind?

8 Spring Road Trip Destinations to Visit on the East Coast

Such a gorgeous view in Portland 📸Visit Portland

Portland, Maine

According to TripAdvisor, Portland was named one of the Top 10 Destinations, based on positive feedback by their community of wanderlusters.  If you would like to visit Portland, a great resource to look at is Visit Portland.  On this website, there is an abundance of information on Portland, along with some great places to eat and visit.

Our ideal Maine getaway car?  Kia Seltos

The Boston Harbor 📸 Seaport Boston

Boston, Massachusetts

I’ve been to Boston so many times.  When I was younger, I loved watching Cheers, and we went to the Cheers Restaurant in Boston.  My brother ended up falling in love with Boston so much that he went to Boston University.  Thanks to that choice, I had a great place to visit and vacation, which was within driving distance.  There are an incredible amount of things that you can do in Boston, but if you visit this site, they will give you more information about this beautiful city.

Our Beantown favorite? Nissan Sentra

Enjoying NYC a few years ago with my goofy self 📸Monica Siembieda

New York, New York

(ok, save this one for later- now may not be the best time) The city that never sleeps, the concrete jungle, good ole New York City. Anything that you can ever imagine of doing, is all in NYC.  Of course, going to the typical tourist areas is great, but make sure to eat a NY slice, and if someone says plain pie, that means a cheese pizza.

Chic wheels for cruising the Big Apple? Volvo S60

The beautiful beaches of Cape May, NJ 📸AMNY

Cape May, NJ

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t biased about visiting NJ. I’m from NJ, and you won’t hear people calling it the beach. Instead, you’ll hear people saying “I’m going down the shore.” The shore is just so beautiful, and no it does not look like the stereotypical Jersey Shore cast.

The best ride for everyone heading down the shore?  Honda Pilot

Beautiful Washington DC 📸Adeina Anderson

Washington DC, Maryland

This stop on the trip will be so incredibly educational. If you have children who are old enough to understand why Washington DC is important, they will love all of the history there.  Plus, it’s always nice to go and visit Washington DC as an adult and not just during your 8th-grade graduation trip.

Wheels that will keep everyone’s agenda moving? GMC Terrain

Hang out with wild horses while camping 📸Ocean City Visitor Guide

Assateague Island, NC

If you are a camper, this is an interesting place to go camping. However, make sure to keep your food locked away. This is so that the horses don’t eat it (my friend made this mistake). However, it’s a great experience to camp and be able to see wild horses.

Want to run with the ponies and crest the dunes? Jeep Gladiator

Wormsloe Plantation in Georgia is a must-see! 📸

Savannah, GA

Savannah is on my bucket list of places to visit. This beautiful city is known for its southern charm where there are so many great things to do. You can see art, architecture, trendy stores, and even ghost stories for those of you who are into the paranormal activities.

Ride in style and soak in the charm in the Mercedes Benz GLS 450

How beautiful is this view! 📸Money Crashers

Key West, FL

This was such a beautiful place that my parents took me to when I was younger.  I still remember it to this day and I was a little girl back then.  Key West is only four miles long and one mile wide, but it is so incredibly beautiful.  The water is aqua blue along with white sandy beaches.  There are so many great places to go when you visit and this resource has a list of the top ten places to go.

Pop the top and let the sun shine in the Ford Mustang Convertible

Do we have any natives from any of these places?  If so, leave some suggestions on some of your favorite places to go to in these cities.

I live in Savannah, it’s definitely a neat place to visit. Another neat place we like to travel to is Charlotte NC. They have the Nascar Hall of Fame, but I enjoy taking my kids to the Charlotte Checkers hockey games, they are the minor league for the Carolina Hurricanes NHL team.

I have visited some places on the east coast with my jeep wrangler. They are really amazing and must-visit places. We will love to visit them again.
