March is Women’s History Month and we couldn’t be more excited!

This month is so important because it shows just how strong we are and just how far we’ve come. Not only have women had to overcome many injustices and hardships in the home, but in the workplace as well. And can you imagine- in the auto industry?

Were it not for these ladies, A Girls Guide to Cars wouldn’t have much to write about…and celebrate. In honor of International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating some of the ladies in auto that inspired many of our stories. These women are changing history in a male-dominated culture/industry. Here are some very inspiring quotes for Women’s Day.

Keitha Blackburn: Inspiring Our Youth with Solid Advice

“I met a young girl who was 12 years old. She ran up to me and said ‘I’m a Porsche enthusiast!’ When young people come up to me, see me driving my car,” (a 718 Boxster, for the record) and want to know more, how I got it, “I tell them to lay out the plan, go to school, invent something that people can’t live without, get a good job, or create a business, then buy a Porsche. And buy your mom one.” -Keitha Blackburn

Jessica Egerton: Teaches Us the Importance of Speaking Up

“While you will encounter challenges, and there are going to be compromises every day. Don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself or for others. Sometimes it’s difficult to be the only one to speak up, especially if you’re the only woman in the room, but you can’t be heard if you don’t speak. Sometimes I need to be the one to speak to encourage others who aren’t yet ready to do so.” -Jessica Egerton

Laura Schwab: Teaches Us to Be Goal Getters and Work Harder

“I started to wonder if being a project manager was for me; I looked around at all the corner offices to figure out what it takes to be in those offices, and it was all middle-aged white men in navy suits and I thought, I am never going to be a middle-aged man in a navy suit, so I basically did what I always did, I worked harder than anyone else.” Laura Schwab

Breaking the stigma.
