Luxury EVs are no longer oxymorons.

Tesla may no longer have the market for high priced performance electric vehicles to itself. According to the Detroit Bureau, both the British car maker Aston Martin and the German luxury car company, Audi, are developing long range EVs with similar long price tags.

The Aston, with a range of about 200 miles, will actually cost quite a bit more than a $70,000 Tesla; the all-electric Rapide will be priced from $200,000 to $250,000.

Audi’s e-tron quattro, an SUV, will have a range closer to 300 miles and a price tag of about $100,000. It is a competitor to the Tesla Model X SUV, debuting in September; the price hasn’t been released.

Meanwhile, USA Today reports that gas prices are expected to drop by the end of the year. Prices rose a bit recently, but they are still owe nationwide than they were a year ago.

Is there a market for more luxury EVs? If you had the money, would you spend it on an electric vehicle?
