Best Cars, and Car Reviewers, for LGBTQ Buyers
When you’re part of a group that suffers discrimination or marginalization, some things are not easy. Top of that list can be the things that make everyone uncomfortable: family holidays, dental appointments, buying a car.
But luckily for all of us, there are specialists out there who make it easier. I’m not part of the LGBTQ community, though I know, love and respect many people who are and I’m grateful they take the time to share their automotive opinions with us all.
And, there are cars that appeal to LGBTQ buyers for great design, reliability, capability and value. In fact, Community Marketing and Insights conducted a survey of LGBTQ car buyers to understand the purchase preferences, values and motivations of this community when it comes to cars.
Here are some of their findings and some of the top LGBTQ car reviewers so you can find your tribe and your next car.
Most LGBTQ Friendly Car Brands
When asked if there are gay-friendly car brands, 48% of respondents said yes. So which brands do they perceive as gay-friendly? No surprises here; the top 5 are: Subaru 88%, VW 12%, Toyota 11%, Volvo 8%, Honda 6%.
LGBTQ-Friendly Car Reviews: Out Motorsports

Perceptions Aside, Which are the Top Brands Among LGBTQ Buyers?
Community Marketing and Insights 2020 survey found that car ownership trends in the LGBTQ community isn’t all that different that the mainstream. The top 10 brands by ownership are: Toyota 23%, Honda 16%, Ford 14%, Subaru 10%, Chevrolet 9%, Nissan 7%, Jeep 6%, Hyundai 6%, VW 5%, Kia 5%.
