You’ll love these even if you don’t own a Jeep.

A great pair of hiking boots is key when you’re adventuring in the great outdoors. An iconic, rugged vehicle is the best way to get around when you’re exploring. Put those two things together, and you have the new collaboration between fashion company Merrell and automaker Jeep; the result is a pair of spectacular hiking boots imbued with Jeep design cues and spirit.

The two companies say the new limited edition Merrell Moab 3 Mid x Jeep boots are the convergence of adventure plus adventure. I’ve tried them out and can vouch for the comfort and good looks, and I’m looking forward to testing them out in the wild!

This hiking boot has iconic Jeep design details

Established in 1981, Merrell was founded by Clark Matis and John Schweizer, both executives at Rossignol ski company. Today, Merrell stands for everything we love: high-quality shoes with the underlying themes of diversity, inclusion, and sustainability driving the company. This partnership with Jeep is a terrific idea, melding two cultures that celebrate getting outside.

Among other details, Merrell Moab 3 Mid x Jeep boots feature an embossing of Jeep’s iconic seven-slot grille on the backstay above the heel, giving the wearer a signature walk away. It comes in three colors named after Jeep hues: Sarge Green, Sting Grey, and Hydro Blue –  an excellent tie-in since Jeep does colors and color names so well. Hella Yella or Crush Orange, anyone?

More special surprises

You’ll also find custom molded Rubicon badging up front, a set of red laces that match the red tow hooks on the Wrangler Rubicon, and footbed inserts that include a topographical map of the Hell’s Revenge trail in Moab, Utah. There’s even an “Easter egg,” a Jeep icon that appears throughout the vehicles in unexpected places. On the inside heel of the boot, there’s a tiny Jeep winking at you.

Why name hiking boots after Moab?

Moab, Utah, is Jeep’s “home away from home” when it’s not building and testing in Michigan and in other parts of the world. Every spring, the Red Rock 4-Wheelers off-road club hosts the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, where the most popular trail is the 14-mile Hell’s Revenge route. The view is incredible, but it’s a difficult climb for experienced drivers, and you need to know where to place your wheels.

Luckily, Jeep works with an incredible team of off-roaders who run adventure trips called “Jeep Jamborees,” and there are professional spotters to help you on the trail. It’s a great way to learn how to off-road effectively and safely.
