Here Are Our Favorite Packable Clothes for Summer
Trips are fun but packing isn’t!
Many people will agree that packing takes so much fun out of travel. It’s time consuming and can be stressful. But not if you pack light and prepare in advance. Packable clothes can be a gamechanger when it comes to travel. Can there really be a more comfortable, convenient packing experience? From research and experience, here’s what I’ve learned.

Dresses can be your Best Friend
On a trip to Europe, I remember packing a little black dress. I also packed a denim jacket, a cardigan, a vintage sweatshirt, and a blazer. While these pieces weren’t originally planned for the LBD, I ended up wearing this comfortable, easy to throw on, wrinkle free LBD with each one of these pieces. I wore the dress with tights and heels for dinner and with tennis shoes to walk around and explore during the day. That was when the packing game changed for me. I realized that all you really need are some key pieces and other pieces to mix and match. Plus, more space in your luggage means you can shop more!
Convertible Clothing Hacks will save you some Space
If you can wear it as a skirt and a dress, you’re not only saving space but giving yourself more options. There are many skirts on the market that can also be worn as dresses. These are great for layering, too. Add a shawl for dinner, a denim jacket for cooler days, or go without on hotter days. A convertible skirt is a great hack for lighter packing.
If You’re Heading Somewhere Sunny, Collapsible hats are a Must
I always pack a hat or two to protect myself from harsh sun rays, even rainy days. Instead of packing a bulky hat or hat box, opt for collapsable hats instead. Bucket hats made of canvas material, crochet hats, soft bendable hats- these types will do.
Make sure you pack for the Weather, Too
I like to pack a light rain jacket and umbrella on road trips- even during the summer time. You just never know when it will rain. I prefer a mid length raincoat with a hood. Something comfortable to explore in and nice enough to wear out to dinner. Something you can fold up into a tiny bag is a plus!
I do Recommend a pair of Foldable Shoes for Water Activities
One lesson I learned from a trip to Mexico is to always be prepared for the water sports. If not, you’re in for a tourist trap of having to buy those things at triple the price. For example, my husband and I forgot to pack water shoes and phone protectors. We ended up having to buy them at the resort which cost us about $100. Don’t make this mistake and pack anything you think you may need for your trip.
Leggings (or yoga pants) are a Travel Must!
Not only are they packable but super light, comfortable to move in and very versatile. Wear them with tees, tanks, hoodies and more. Add pockets for your phone and lipgloss and you’re good to go! Leggings are perfect for hiking, biking, shopping, exploring and more.
A nice soft Blanket and Pillow will also make your trip Better
Not clothing, but no trip is complete without a blanket and pillow. Especially a road trip where you may need some extra comfort in the car.
Now that you know what to pack, you start Planning for your next Journey
Remember, less is more! Safe and happy travels!
