Kick Off 2021 With Our Pumped-Up New Year’s Day Playlist

Why not start the new year with something familiar?

I don’t know about you, but when the new year rolls around, music is at the forefront of my mind. I have this superstition that the first song I hear (with the exception of Auld Lang Syne, of course) will set the tone for how the year is going to go. That usually means I like to pick a song I loved in 2020, one that I loaded up with memories and meanings I’d like to take into the upcoming year.

And that’s why we put together this playlist! At A Girls Guide to Cars, we’ve been sharing the songs we listen to in all the new cars we’ve tested all year long. We’ve selected our favorite song from each playlist. That way, you can start 2021 off with some of our favorite tried-and-true jams.

We’ll run you through a few of our favorites below.

Truth Hurts by Lizzo

This was one of my top songs this year because it made it on all of my road trip playlists, and I can’t listen to it just one. We had this song on our Hyundai Venue and Hyundai Kona Electric playlists because we just couldn’t get enough!

Ain’t It Fun by Paramore

Ain’t It Fun was an instant classic by Paramore, and it’s one of our favorites here at A Girls Guide to Cars. It made its debut on our Kia Seltos review playlist, but I’m inclined to believe it would work well for just about any car.

Blinding Lights by The Weeknd

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that Blinding Lights might just be A Girls Guide to Cars’ song of the year. It featured on tons of our driving playlists—the Hyundai Venue, Hyundai Kona electric, Honda Accord hybrid, BMW 2 Series, Honda CR-V, Mercedes-Benz AMG SUVs, Cadillac CT5 Vand the Toyota Venza—and was no doubt in your head, too. You can’t go wrong putting this one on when you’re behind the wheel.

The Chain by Fleetwood Mac

For ages, The Chain was Formula One’s unofficial soundtrack. It aired on all the broadcasts for years, so fans have long associated the sweet sounds of Fleetwood Mac with fast cars and lots of fun. The perfect pairing for the Land Rover Defender.
