What is the Road to Renewables Tour? Mark Ruffalo explains, and we happily listen.

New Yorkers for Clean Power launches a campaign on May 5 to support solar power and wind energy throughout New York state. As part of its commitment to renewable ‘clean’ energy, several environmental groups, including the Natural Resources Defense Council, Sierra Club, Frack Action, Catskill Mountainkeeper, The Solutions Project and Environmental Entrepreneurs have joined forces to educate businesses and residents of New York about clean energy. Ford donated a plug-in hybrid Fusion Energi to travel around the state and promote clean energy to New Yorkers of all income levels.

The Road to Renewables Tour kicks off in Binghamton at the State University with representatives from the New Yorkers for Clean Power organization.

On Tuesday, May 2, leaders of environmental groups including Donna De Costanzo, director of Northeast Energy & Sustainable Communities at the Natural Resources Defense Council, Renee Vogelsang, Campaign Coordinator of New Yorkers for Clean Power and Peggy Shepard, Executive Director, CoFounder, WE ACT For Environmental Justice spoke about the new jobs created by clean energy initiatives and health improvements to communities using renewable energy.

Are you listening California? Mark Ruffalo is gonna help New York to kick ass (his words)

Actor and director Mark Ruffalo, a New Yorkers for Clean Power Advisory Board member, noted that “New York State is already leading the way on the clean energy revolution with over 85,000 jobs. Now with increased solar, wind, energy efficiency, clean transportation options through New York State’s existing innovative programs, we can bring more jobs and prosperity to every community in the state.” He challenged California to step up to New York’s embrace of clean energy, asserting that we will “kick ass.”

The road to clean energy includes filling roads with more Fords – electric Fords, that is

Bill Collins, public affairs director at Ford Motor Company, said the Ford Fusion Energi plug in hybrid is one of five electric vehicles produced by Ford, and added that “Ford is doing its part:” in December 2015, Ford announced a $4.5 billion investment in electric vehicles by 2020, adding 13 more EVs to its global plan.

And if any one of them is driven by Mark Ruffalo, well, that would kick ass, too.
