2020 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro 4×4 is Perfect for Adventurous Mom Life On-and-Off-Road

The 2020 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro 4×4 isn’t your average 3-row SUV with 7-passenger capacity. No, this is a great family adventure SUV to take you around town, school, work, and off-road where the fun begins. The TRD version pairs the popular features and space of the Sequoia with TRD’s off-road chops. If you’ve been considering a truck because you also haul a camper or fun toys like a jet ski or ATV, consider this an Army green dream (though you can get it in other colors too).

It’s all about the upgrades and off-road must-haves

Starting at $64,030, and as tested at $65,624, the 2020 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro 4×4 is equipped for all types of weather and terrain. Hop inside with the smart key and push button start. It has a 5.7L V8 automatic transmission with 381 hp, and a fuel efficiency of 14 combined mpg, 13 city, 17 highway. Want to hit the trail and explore the outdoors during the pandemic and beyond? The Sequoia is a great way to introduce your family to exploring the woods around you. There’s a multi-mode 4WD or four-wheel drive, where it’s extra helpful providing power to all four tires and to a specific tire on the left or right when you need to crawl up-and-downhill.

The 18” TRD Pro wheels, fox shocks, black grille, and black roof rack give your SUV a fierce look ready to stabilize across bumping roads or trails. You can carry all of your gear and luggage, without sacrificing any interior space, too. Family life is all about compromise, but this SUV is just the opposite: uncompromising on space. After all, when you’re carrying around 7 total passengers inside including yourself, there’s no way you can leave any essentials behind miles away from the comforts of home. And to light the way, LED fog lights and LED headlights help you stay focused on what’s ahead of you.

The JBL sound system has 14 speakers, a subwoofer, and an amplifier and is accessed via the 7” screen which also allows you to connect with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. There is also one USB media port and two USB charge-ports. I wish there were more ways to charge, especially with the amount of seating. The auto 3-zone climate control keeps the cabin temperature nice and comfortable, so that is a big plus. Speaking of comfortable, the seats are all leather trimmed with red stitching, and of course, the TRD Pro logo. The driver gets a 10-way power adjustable seat, while the passenger seat gets some extra adjustable options.

Toyota Safety Sense and the comforts of home keep your family happy on the go or at curbside pickup

If you’re driving to avoid cabin fever indoors these days, the Toyota Safety Sense is there to keep you alert and ready at the helm. If you haven’t driven in a while, this is extra helpful, especially with lane departure alert, blind spot monitor, and the pre-collision system to name a few options. With parking assist, you can make sure you see everything when pulling up or exiting a busy curbside pickup area – a great feature on such a large SUV. What’s cool is the power liftgate makes it easier than ever to open up without ever stepping outside of the SUV.

It’s all about the power liftgate

The Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro 4×4 also has this cool liftgate power window, too, so if you don’t feel comfortable opening the whole thing, the small portion is a great alternative. It’s a bonus if you’re out in nature and want to sleep in the cargo space, too. You can keep the liftgate power window slightly open with the moonroof, too, and enjoy the stars at night. (“Deep in the heart of Texas”, anyone?) It’s great to have an SUV that provides safety and refuge when we’re spending more time with one another every day. What better way to connect with nature than with your family safely tucked away?

Tow and play with your new toys

The 2020 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro 4×4 makes it easy to play with those ATVs, jet skis, RVs, and more. Let’s start with fitting into small parking spaces and parking outdoors. You can now park with power folding, auto-dim outside mirrors. Whether at the mall or hitting a trail, no one wants trees scraping or tapping the cars next to them. It makes sense, so you can take care of your SUV and have fun without worrying where the mirror fell off a few trees back.

With trailer sway control and tow hitch receiver with the connector, you can carry your adventure items that give your family a thrill or place to stay on the go. The possibilities are endless, but either way, your trailer or ATV will be stable and arrive safely for the fun to begin. It’s good to know what your SUV can do, and the 2020 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro 4×4 is for maximum fun and off-roading over and through mud, sand, snow, hills, and rocks.

Need a change of scenery even if you have to bring everyone with you?

These days that’s the price we have to pay: staying in the family bubble and far from others. The Sequoia TRD Pro lets you do that. From a spacious interior, power liftgate, 4WD capabilities, towing, lots of cupholders (16!) throughout the cabin, and lots of spaces where you can stash a mask, snacks and your purse. You’ll have lots of capability when the day’s adventure turns more to the Costco run than plotting an off-road trail ride, and inspiration to make sure that adventure is on the must-do list, too.
