Which Taylor Swift “Car-Ma” Car Would You Drive? Her Cars, and (More) Affordable Options
We love Taylor Swift for so many reasons. Not just her amazing concert tour, or the fantastic business woman she’s proven to be. Not for her sing-along songs that are filling our summer playlists, or the Taylor vs. Scooter documentary that I’ve enjoyed bingeing this week.
It turns out she has an amazing collection of cars, and she loves each one for what it represents. This is not your “I’m richer than you” celeb collection, or “I have so much money I don’t know what to do with it” collection. Nor is it “I’m so much smarter about cars than you are, I’ll prove it” collection. It’s an “I need this, I deserve this, I love this, this makes me feel great” collection. It’s the sort of garage we should all have, or at least one of these in our garage.
So here’s a look at her cars—the sensible ones that would work for any of us, the splurges and the sensible alternatives (for those of us who don’t have hundreds of thousands to drop on a car).

First Things First: The Revenge Car, Lexus LC500
What’s the first thing Taylor Swift did when she got her first big paycheck? Buy a car, of course! For her it was a chance to prove to the naysayers that she could accomplish her dreams, so she bought a Lexus convertible, the same one that Regina George drove in Mean Girls. That was a *few* years ago and while you can probably find a Lexus SC430, if you’re revenge shopping you deserve a Lexus LC500.
Taylor Swift’s First Truck: Chevrolet Silverado
Taylor moved to Nashville as a teenager and we all know, pickup trucks are a must in Tennessee. So it’s no surprise that she needed one—if nothing else, to haul home all her awards. She was gifted a Chevrolet Silverado, a full-size pick up truck with a roomy cabin that seats 5 full-size people and has a large bed that is easy to reach thanks to built in steps in the bumper. And it was pink.
Full-Size Pickup Alternative: Chevrolet Colorado
Recently redesigned with a great new multimedia system, top-notch off-road capabilities and an easy-to-drive size, the Chevy Colorado will answer most of your truck needs while still being easier on the wallet and in the parking lot.
Every Girl Needs a Capable 3-Row SUV: Toyota Sequoia
And we get it! The Toyota Sequoia has been the stuff of families, fun and truck-like performance all wrapped in a could of reliability, but with more seating and cargo space. And these things are rugged. There is no ranch, ski mountain or overlanding trip that can dampen its spirit, or its capability.

Rugged 3-Row Alternative: Jeep Grand Cherokee L
As much as we love the Sequoia, it’s pricey and the 3rd row isn’t as convenient or roomy as we’d like. What we do like is the ample seating and go-anywhere capability of the Jeep Grand Cherokee L. It’s as capable off-road as the Sequoia, has more interior space and a starting price that’s $20,000 less.
Every Girl Dreams of a Porsche 911
New, vintage, used, we’ll take a Porsche 911 however it comes. No doubt Taylor Swift loves the freedom these powerful little sports cars offer, and they’re great for speeding away from a bad situation—maybe that’s how she should use a getaway car. But it’s the power, precision steering and perfect balance that makes you want to keep going. Once you drive a Porsche, any Porsche, you’re forever changed.
The Porsche Alternative: Toyota Supra
This is the favorite of fans and enthusiasts: a Toyota with a BMW engine and precision tuning. Also perfect for that necessary getaway, or for that mind-freeing spin through the countryside to blow off steam and clear your head.

Once Behind the Wheel of the Mercedes AMG G Wagen, You’ve Arrived
We can’t blame Taylor Swift for going Hollywood and falling for the military chic of the Mercedes AMG G Wagen. It’s tough, boxy and capable anywhere you want to take it. And it’s customizable, often the recipient of bullet-proof glass that’s tinted to be paparazzi proof, too. This car is one of the ultimate rewards of achievement, and we approve.
G Wagen Alternative: Ford Bronco Raptor
This is (believe it or not) an under-the-radar comparison to the G Wagen: the top of the line Ford Bronco in the Raptor trim has a large engine, is super capable on all terrains and is nicely outfitted with comfortable seats and finishes. And with an all-in price at about half of the starting price of the AMG G Wagen, a relative bargain.

A Girl Grows Up and So Does Her Car: Range Rover
Range Rover always represents the pinnacle of automotive ownership; it’s designed with royalty in mind and its comforts and aesthetics are over the top. We completely understand Taylor’s need for sophisticated luxury and approve; the Range Rover delivers.

Sophisticated and Capable Alternative: Kia Telluride
With its elegant look and feel, capable but refined interior and room for everyone, the Kia Telluride had our attention when it made its debut. Its boxy style and design nods to the Range Rover endeared us even more. Build it out in white with black accents and you have the perfect doppleganger at a third of the price.

We knew, and love, that Taylor Swift is a car girl. But what we love even more is the thoughtfulness of her cars. Each represents a passion, most accommodate other people, four-legged friends and lots of stuff. And, each helps you live your life the way you need to live it, with a bit of style, a lot of capability and when necessary, a nice dose of revenge.
