Have you heard about Ford Warriors in Pink?
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Started in 1985, this deeply-needed campaign aims to increase awareness of the fight against breast cancer and raise money to fund research to beat it, but the battle against this disease is an ever-present concern. 99 out of 100 breast cancer sufferers are women and women buy or influence the purchase of 85% of all cars, so it only seems right that automakers do something to support the fight against something that affects so many of us.
Enter Warriors in Pink
Founded by Ford in 1993, Warriors in Pink aims to unify the breast cancer community and help those fighting against this disease. They’re dedicated to helping those touched by breast cancer through efforts to empower, inspire, and support patients, survivors, and their families too. Through a variety of initiatives over their 28 years of existence, they’ve dedicated a whopping $138 million to the cause, and they clearly aim to keep it going!

Access to Transportation can be a Huge Barrier when Fighting for Health
Transportation is a huge barrier for patients to access the essential care that they need. Not only is owning a vehicle a luxury that not everyone can afford but the physical impacts of cancer treatment can make it difficult to drive or access public transport. On various occasions, Ford Warriors in Pink has helped address this need.
In 2015 they partnered with Lyft and Meal Train to help provide greater access to transportation and to assist with accomplishing daily tasks that can become unmanageable in times of need.

For a portion of 2019, in partnership with GoRide Health, they provided complimentary transportation to medical appointments for those battling cancer. Ford and the Ford Resource and Engagement Center have since pivoted to focus on Autonomous Vehicles. They actualized this plan in late 2021 with an autonomous fresh food delivery pilot program in Southwest Detroit that addresses the needs of mobility-challenged senior citizens.

Ford donated 700,000 Masks Nationwide
In 2020, during the height of the Pandemic, Ford Warriors in Pink took a suitably pink-wrapped transit van around Michigan to provide and distribute 273,280 masks to the high-vulnerable breast cancer survivors, patients, and their families and donated 700,000 masks nationwide.
Ford Warriors in Pink also promotes awareness by sponsoring powerful women like legendary racing driver Danica Patrick who commented of her pride in driving to support the cause.
“Cancer impacts all of us.” she has stated, “If we all work together, we can help make a difference, whether it’s starting a conversation or inspiring donations, every little bit helps.”

The #moregooddays Project Strives to Give Just That
The heart of this campaign is Ford Warriors in Pink and the goal to give those touched by breast cancer #moregooddays. As Ford puts it, many who struggle against breast cancer count each good day to get them through the bad ones, so let’s do what we can to give them more good days. In fact, Ford has provided more than 80,000 “More Good Days” experiences to Warriors across the country with efforts varying from special patient surprises, to rides to treatment, and even racing lessons.
One way that we can help from home is the Warriors in Pink website where you can find resources and shop gear that goes to fund the cause. The website is being updated at the moment but, in the meantime, you can shop Warriors in Pink gear directly on the Ford website and know that 100% of the proceeds go to Susan G. Komen and The Pink Fund!
