5 Reasons to Love the 2025 Cadillac CT5-V – and CT5-V Blackwing

These Performance Sedans Will Sweep You Off Your Feet

I’ll admit it, I’m not someone who gets excited by a sedan. Sitting lower to the ground and having less cargo space for my Costco haul? No, thank you. I prefer my daily driver to be tall, dark and handsome. Of course, I said the same thing about men when I was single… and I ended up marrying someone short, blond and, well, still handsome. (Phew!) And I’ve never been happier.

The refreshed 2025 Cadillac CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing could very well be the car equivalent of my husband. All this time I’ve had my eye on SUVs — but there’s a sedan out there that might just be my perfect match. See, the Cadillac V-Series is anything but run-of-the-mill. This is Cadillac’s performance-oriented lineup that’s been running strong for 20 years. These cars are designed to get your heart going.

They seem to be doing a pretty good job, too. John Roth, vice president of global Cadillac, shared that Cadillac sedans experienced their best sales since 2018 last year, and the V-Series is no exception.

“As V-Series celebrates a record year, the importance of this option for those customers who value performance and power cannot be overstated,” he said.

In honor of the V-Series (and of Roman numerals), it seems fitting to list the top five reasons why these two sedans are going to make a lot of people very happy once they hit the market later this year.

They’re Simultaneously Calm and Crazy

The CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing have long had a reputation for being some of the best sport sedans out there thanks to their impressive power and performance. But Cadillac also prides itself on offering a “quiet, smooth and effortless” ride “with a strong connection to the road.” One minute, you could be enjoying a comfortable drive around town and the next you could be unleashing a beast from under the hood.

Speaking of keeping things comfortable, my favorite feature — Magnetic Ride Control — also comes standard on the 2025 CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing. This reads the road up to 1,000 times per second and makes damping adjustments to optimize ride and handling. I’ve experienced this in real life on another car and can confirm — it eats up bumps in the road like no one’s business.

That Giant Screen is Really Something

These athletic sedans aren’t self-centered; They want to put the focus back on you. That’s why Cadillac designed a driver-centric cockpit featuring a massive 33-inch diagonal LED color touchscreen display. You can even customize the user interface for a more personalized experience.

You’ll Feel Like a Track Star

Speaking of that giant screen, here’s another reason why you’ll love it. Enough can’t be said about Cadillac’s emphasis on performance, and this next feature was the brainchild of racing-obsessed GM engineers and designers. It’s called the Performance Data Recorder. Essentially, it gives you some cool stats and information you might appreciate if you plan on testing your Cadillac V-Series sedan out on the track. This includes:

  • A lap analyzer tool. Once upon a time, you had to connect a laptop to get this kind of data analysis. Now it’s built into the car directly.
  • A speed tips tool. Want to get faster? Your Cadillac has some suggestions.
  • A live data screen. This will be helpful for your coach in the passenger seat.
  • Detailed data from past track outings. Because how will you get better if you don’t know where you’ve been?
  • Real-time display of power, torque and boost.
  • An array of performance gauges. Check your g-force, tire temperature and engine vitals with a quick glance.

Super Cruise is Standard Now

Yes, the CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing are some of the best sports sedans on the market, and you’re likely buying them because you value high performance. But driving isn’t always glamorous. Sometimes you’re stuck in traffic and you just want to get from Point A to Point B with as few headaches as possible. That’s when hands-free driver assistance technology like Super Cruise comes in handy. This allows you to take your hands off the wheel and allow the car to drive and change lanes for you. It’s not a self-driving feature, so you’ll need to keep your attention on the road, but it can still ease some stress in your daily commute.

Super Cruise is a standard feature on the 2025 CT5-V and standard for three years on the CT5-V Blackwing with an automatic transmission.

They’re Handsome, Too

We are, as humans, very vain creatures and it’s not embarrassing to admit that we want our cars to look good in addition to performing well. The Cadillac design team has given the 2025 CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing a facelift to make them appear even bolder and more aggressive on the outside while improving their aerodynamics. Updates include a redesigned grille, redesigned Cadillac stacked signature vertical lighting, quad trapezoid exhaust tips and a few other new design elements that make these luxury sports sedans look more attractive than ever.

The names of the three new paint colors alone are enough to spark some curiosity: Deep Space Metallic, Drift Metallic and Typhoon Metallic. According to Cadillac design manager Candice Willett, these colors were intended to “make the car look really fast even when it’s standing still.”

But Wait — There’s More!

I gave you my top five reasons why I’m excited for the 2025 Cadillac CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing. But I didn’t say those were the only reasons. In addition to what I already mentioned, here are a few “honorable mention” highlights to add to the list:

  • Google’s built-in multimedia system is standard.
  • The climate controls now feature animations for “an elevated, interactive experience.”
  • The CT5-V has a 3.0-liter twin turbo, 360-horsepower engine with 405 pound-feet of torque and a 10-speed automatic transmission.
  • The CT5-V Blackwing has a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with 668 horsepower, 659 pound-feet of torque and your choice of a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission.
  • All-wheel drive is an available option for the CT5-V.

When will the CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing be available?

It takes a lot for an SUV-driving mom to consider shifting to a sedan for a new family car. But if one was going to steal my heart, it might just be the CT5-V or the CT5-V Blackwing. If you’re already foaming at the mouth to get one of these bad boy performance sedans, you’ll have to wait just a little bit longer — but not much. Cadillac announced that they’ll start production this summer with further details and pricing information to follow.

In the meantime, if you just can’t take the suspense and want to get a preview of what’s to come, the 2025 CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing are set to make their public debut at the Rolex 24 At Daytona on Jan. 27–28. They’ll also be available for public viewing in the Cadillac midway display at the Daytona International Speedway on those dates.

Who knows? Maybe you’ll become a sedan fan, too.
