The Beloved Detroit Auto Show (AKA North American International Auto Show) Has a New Look
But wait, the North American International Auto Show (Detroit Auto Show) always takes place in winter, right?
This year, the 2022 North American International Auto Show is taking place Sunday, September 17 through Sunday, September 25. That’s right, that’s September. Not January like it’s always been. This means that the show will have lovelier weather for its attendees, and even some outdoor displays.
The program for media was shorter this year than in recent memory, but we’ll share the news with you over the next few days. What can you expect to see? Besides the President, because he was already here and gone.

Jeep is bringing Camp Jeep to the North American International Auto Show, which is a fun way to get familiar with Jeeps and their capabilities. It always feels like a roller coaster ride in a Wrangler on the fun indoor track! Also, in a nod to Jeep owner’s favorite pastime (besides off-roading) known as “ducking,” Jeep has a giant rubber duck out on the plaza. Ducking is where one Jeep owner leaves a rubber duck on another owner’s Jeep. It’s such an insider thing, and we are here for it.
Also, if the weather is hot, there will be “dessert rated” ice cream available on opening weekend. Flavors include Snazzberry (named for a Jeep paint color), 4xe (lemon flavors with chocolate covered pop rocks), and Mud Terrain (chocolate, matcha marshmallows, and more).
