The Porsche 911 Sally Special – Cars’ Famous Sally Carrera Comes to Life

Did you ever think that you would see Pixar brought to life?
Neither did we, but Porsche and Pixar Animations Studios made it happen.Sally Carrera is one of the favorite, yet unassuming, characters from Pixar’s 2006 film, Cars. She’s a 911 Porsche. She’s an attorney. She’s a hotel owner. So we can safely say she is a boss babe. Porsche, in conjunction with Pixar Animation Studios, created a one of a kind, real life, Sally Carrera also known as The 911 Sally Special. She was set to be auctioned as part of the Monterey Car Week in California, with the proceeds benefiting both Girls, Inc. and USA for UNHCR, an organization that supports refugees from Ukraine.

The 911 Sally Special is Bringing People Together, Just like she Always Did
This special project started in November 2021 and brought together all the creators from the original Pixar Cars. This pit crew consisted of Jay Ward, Creative Director of Franchise at Pixar Animation Studios, and Bob Pauley, the Production Designer who first drew Sally Carrera. Next the team brought in members of the Sonderwunsch team at Porsche Exclusive Manufacture in Stuttgart and designers from Style Porsche in Weissach. It took 10 months to make this film star come to life.

No Details are too Small
Not only is the Sally Special based on the fastest 911 Carrera, the 911 Carrera GTS, its packed full of incredible details that simply make this car second to none. No literally, this baby is one of a kind. The team thought of everything. Starting with the custom paint job in Sallybluemetallic, all the way down to the signature Sally Carrera tattoo. Sally Carrera valued class and elegance, and they were able to recreate that with all of the special details inside and out. The interior is Pepita houndstooth fabric upholstery in three colors, complementing the metallic blue trim on the dash and doors.

But Wait! There’s More
Not only will the winner of the auction be the proud new owner of a one of a kind car, they will also be the owner of this one of a kind timepiece. The chronograph was also part of the the collaboration with the Pixar Animations and Porsche Design. It comes with two different straps, one leather and one stitched, that are easily interchangeable.
The winner of the auction will also get a special indoor car cover from Porsche Tequipment, a wheel rack with an additional wheel set consisting of Carrera Exclusive Design wheels, and a book on the development and production of the one-off model and original drawings by designers Shuichi Yamashita and Bob Pauley.

And the prize goes to…
A telephone bidder loved the Sally Special so much they were willing to part with $3.6 million to have it. The Sally Special is officially the most expensive new Porsche sold at an auction. The proceeds will be split between Girls, Inc. and USA for UNHCR.
Girls, Inc is a 501 not for profit organization that encourages all girls to be “Strong, Smart, and Bold.”
USA for UNHCR, according to their website, is a non profit organization that protects refugees and empowers them with hope and opportunity.
Sally Carrera would approve.
