Ram Trucks Go All In On Texas With 3 New Pickup Truck Trims Are Infused With Local Flavor

Ram heard Texans' wishes for a truck as fine as their boots, and these three limited trims of Ram 1500 were born.

To say Texans love trucks is an understatement: one out of every six pickup trucks sold in the U.S. is purchased in Texas. And, full-sized pickup trucks have become even more popular; Texas alone accounts for 15% to 20% of all national Ram 1500 sales and a massive 20% of heavy-duty sales each year, according to the company. So, it comes as no surprise that Ram trucks are common on Texan highways.

As a Texan, I get it: large trucks and SUVs feel natural on Texas roads and people need vehicles that can go the distance and do the hard work, from towing a boat or heavy equipment to keeping everyone comfortable and cool. All that adds up to a lot of time in our trucks, pushing truck makers to offer more and more luxuries and features, with truck buyers reveling in all the attention.

This story is 100% human-researched and written based on actual first-person knowledge, extensive experience and expertise on the subject of cars and trucks. I was a guest of Ram’s at this reveal, but all opinions and impressions are my own.

Ram Introduces Texas-Born Trucks

Ram saw the popularity of trucks in Texas as an opportunity to develop special trims to honor its buyers, creating the Bighorn/Lone Star, Limited Longhorn, and Tungsten editions. The inspiration for Ram’s western luxury styling came straight from the source. Customers told designers, “I like a fine pair of boots; I want my truck to be handcrafted, too.” Ram listened, expanding their lineup to offer distinct truck personalities tailored for different lifestyles and aesthetics for Texans (but can be bought elsewhere, too).

I recently joined Ram in celebrating the 15th anniversary of Ram Trucks‘ iconic Limited Longhorn trim in the heart of Fort Worth, Texas. It was the perfect backdrop to experience firsthand how Lone Star style, culture, and a love for the rodeo shape the stunning, handcrafted details of these trucks.

Let’s Start With the Ram 1500 Bighorn, or as Texans Call it, the Lone Star

With what feels like over 1 million ways to configure a perfect Ram truck, finding the one that is uniquely yours is easier than you think. Let’s break down three standout trims: the Big Horn / Lone Star, the Limited Longhorn, and the ultra-luxurious Tungsten to help you balance performance, styling, and pricing.

If you are new to trucks and want great capability on a budget, start with the Ram 1500 Big Horn. Fun fact: if you live in Texas, this exact trim is called the Lone Star. Starting at $53,430, it is built to give you driving confidence with a high view over the hood and an excellent camera safety system. And, true to Ram fashion, you can easily customize this truck for your lifestyle.

The Off-Road Package ($1,345) adds a raised suspension for a smoother ride over rough ground. The Night Edition ($1,495) gives it a sleek look with a blacked-out grille and large 20-inch wheels. Inside, the Level 2 Equipment Package ($2,895) adds everyday comforts like heated front seats, a user-friendly touchscreen, and a great 9-speaker sound system. Fully loaded as tested in Hydro Blue Pearl, the total comes to $65,580, which includes the dealership shipping fee.

The Off-Road Package is gaining popularity, so this is a solid place to start and explore. If you crave the inside of your truck to look like a new pair of boots, I think you’re going to fall in love with the Texas-style interior and exterior on the Ram 2500 Limited Longhorn.

Western Luxury Comes in the Form of the Mid-Level Ram 1500 Tungsten

For a high-end luxury experience without the cowboy theme, the Ram 1500 Tungsten starts at $88,800. The exterior looks elegant with large 22-inch wheels and chrome details. Inside, it features a sophisticated, deep Serrano Green color palette. The cabin feels like a rolling day spa.

The front seats feature 20-way power adjustments, built-in massage controls, and cooling ventilation that feels amazing on hot days. It also comes with a giant panoramic sunroof and a premium 23-speaker Klipsch sound system. There is even a dedicated screen just for the front passenger.

This is perfect for when you switch to passenger princess duties to help navigate or just take a nap. Plus, it is ready for family adventures with handy add-ons like a bed-step, cargo tie-downs, and a trailer brake controller to safely haul your weekend toys.

Experience The Most From the Ram 2500 Limited Longhorn

If you love Western style and want your truck to look and smell like a fine pair of leather boots, the Ram 2500 Limited Longhorn starts at $76,095. This heavy-duty truck uses a warm color palette with premium Bison Brown leather, real barn wood trim, and hammered metal accents. The design details are beautifully handcrafted.

You will find laser-etched patterns on the seats and nostalgic belt-buckle pockets on the seatbacks. According to Ram’s design team, the goal was to bring authentic, custom craftsmanship straight into a production vehicle. It is also packed with great tech. It features a 17-speaker Harman Kardon audio system (which delighted this audiophile), dual wireless phone charging pads, and heated and cooled front seats. It even has an air suspension that automatically levels the truck when you load heavy gear.

Jon Gaudreau, Interior Design Director, Ram Trucks, shared the design evolution from 2011 to the current 2026 iteration, saying, “This is one of the special things about working on the Longhorn, it gives us the chance to take our knowledge of manufacturing and translate it into production reality.” Hammered metal felt artisanal, barn wood exuded that one-of-a-kind exclusivity, and the filigree looks hand-tooled and crafted like a boot you’ll wear for years. Even the raw edge piping in the Bison Brown leather color ladders up to the Texas vibes. As seen, the total, including the destination charge, is $100,695.

All Three Sung to My My Texas-Loving Heart

There is no wrong way to pick a Ram truck for what you need, but if you’re craving Texas style but you’re new to trucks, the Big Horn/Lone Star is the way to get the safety, durability, and power at the price with the powerful, accelerating champion inline six Hurricane twin turbo engine. If you can lean into your Southwestern style a bit more and want to invest in your own piece of Ram Truck and Texas culture, the Limited Longhorn is the artisanal powerhouse with a diesel engine.

If you need even more customization and luxury, but you don’t want the Texas on Texas vibes of the Longhorn, the Tungsten truly gives you the comfort, family utility, and luxury of Texas styling that can give the driver, front passenger, and second row passengers an A/C cooled and device-charged, spacious experience.

Trust Me—There’s a Ram Truck Trim for You

Texas truly drives the truck world, so it is no surprise that buyers here love traditional V8 power. In fact, after briefly dropping the legendary HEMI V8 engine, Ram brought it back for the 2026 model year due to massive fan demand. They even added a literal “Symbol of Protest” badge to the front fender—a fun, cheeky nod to the brand listening to its community and admitting they made a mistake by taking it away.

While the deep, classic rumble of that returning V8 is undeniably a blast to drive, the new inline-six “Hurricane” twin-turbo engine deserves a ton of credit. I loved how effortless and responsive it felt on the road. Even with little old me behind the wheel of such a massive truck, getting all the power I needed to pass and accelerate was incredibly smooth. No matter which engine style you prefer, Ram is giving drivers more choices than ever.

Cabins, Engines and Drivetrains Make Customizing Your Ram Truck Easy

The 2026 Ram 1500 offers four different cabin setups, engine options, and drivetrains to choose from. If you love having choices, the upcoming 2027 models will expand even further, offering up to seven different engine options to perfectly match your exact lifestyle. The truck world is truly your oyster. With over 340,000 Lone Star models sold since 2002, this trim is a fantastic, dependable place to start your truck-shopping journey.

After all, the stars at night are always big and bright when you are looking up from a cozy truck bed. Something that Ram’s designers—thankfully—understand.
