The ‘Blahs’ are Real. Design Is the Antidote. Our Weekly Rewind Looks at the Magic of Aesthetics
But what makes design work? We asked the experts!

There’s no therapy like shopping: change up your colors, put yourself in a better frame, feel and look fresh.
As much I as I think shopping therapy is all about summer dresses and throw pillows, it can extend to your car, too. A fresh ride, a new set of wheels, and if your car is your happy place, a car-inspired inner-sanctum for your home. But which wheels? Which new car? And decor? There’s a lot to discover, but I’m here for it.
This week our Kristen Brown looked at different types of cars and the best wheels to change up your look and mood, and we’re calling it Car Core: the core aesthetics that shape the look. These will definitely change your walk-away-last-glance habit if you let snazzy new wheels change your mood.
This story is 100% human-researched and written based on actual first-person knowledge, extensive experience, and expertise on the subject of cars and trucks.
Buy This Not That: Get What You Want Even if Your First Choice Isn’t An Option

If there’s one piece of advice I ever have for anyone, it is… shop around. The features you want? They are not exclusive to any one brand, I promise. The look you want? You can also get that from other brands. The price you have in mind? That, too, is a variable.
If you shop around and are flexible, the car you most want and need is there for you. Our Buy This Not That Best Car Alternatives list shows you just how you can have it all, including the price you have in mind.

And that’s the meaning of great design; you can live with it, put it through hell, and still love it every single day.
Here’s Kristin’s experience from Milan, and what you can take home from one of the most elevated design events in the world.

Christine Cheng Might Be Our Favorite Car Designer

I can’t say enough good things about Lincoln’s design right now (as well as the last generation of the brand’s designs, which are gorgeous). The dedication to true luxury—colors, fabrics, surfaces—as well as technology and intuitive features is simply sublime. The brand’s exterior silhouette is so distinct and elegant; you see a Lincoln in traffic and instantly feel envious it’s not what you’re driving.
Much of that is thanks to Christine Cheng, the creative talent behind the Lincoln Navigator and Nautilus and leading the brand’s elegant next era. We sat down with Christine to learn what’s behind her vision and magic.
