USED: Cadillac XT5: Luxury Gadgets that Make Driving Comfortable and Fun

These details will make you feel special. Because you are!

The 2020 Cadillac XT5 is so loaded with convenience features, beautiful design and technology that it’s no surprise the luxury brand Cadillac is behind the design.

But beyond the beautiful design, there is lots of space for cargo (what every mom wants), and it’s packed with luxury features.

The Cadillac XT5 has been a best-seller for Cadillac since its introduction in 2017. It was updated with some new features for the 2020 model year, including a new grille design, a turbo engine option and some luxury tech features. The Sport model shown here is all new for 2020. The Sport trim includes the black grille and exterior trim, standard 20″ wheels, standard AWD and an engaging drive experience with tighter chassis and transmission tuning.

Rear Seat Reminder

I saw this feature for the first time introduced by GM in the 2018 GMC Terrain. I was impressed by the functionality of this feature for parents everywhere. If you’ve opened the rear door before starting your drive, you will receive an audible and visual warning on the instrument panel to check the back seat when you turn off the car. This feature was designed in response to so many children being left in the car on a hot day. Thank you for this, General Motors.

Rear Camera Washer

Wait, what? Yes, a little mini washer for the rear backup cameras. And yes again, cameras plural. One is a night vision camera and one is a standard rearview camera on the XT5! If you live in a climate with cold weather and mud or snow, the washer is fantastic for clarity!

Wireless Phone Charger

This is becoming more mainstream, but I still view it as a true luxury perk. Not having to plug in my phone and just drop it right into the cool wireless charging slot in this car is so convenient. Plus, it’s oversized to accommodate larger smartphones.

Multiple Drive Modes For Fun and Safety

Also increasingly available in new cars is the ability to select different drive modes based on the terrain or the way you want to feel while driving. What I liked about the Cadillac XT5 specifically is the ability to switch from 2WD to AWD on demand.

The drive modes are Touring (default), Sport, AWD and Off-Road. You can have all the fun you want in Sport mode until it’s time to pick up the kids, and Touring becomes a necessity.

Semi-Autonomous Park Assist

Who loves parallel parking? No one. Especially when it can be difficult to see the curb or other objects outside the car. The XT5 comes equipped with advanced park assist. At the touch of a button, it identifies a parking spot and prompts you to stop and put it in reverse or drive.

Take your hands off the wheel, be ready to brake (or accelerate) and let the car work its magic. The ‘Advanced’ in this case means this car will also brake for you in an emergency – as in you’re getting too close to the car parked in front or behind you.

@xoconniepetersParallel parking assist is available in lots of cars. This is the Cadillac XT5. ##cadillac ##carreview ##cartech ##carsafety ##luxurycar♬ Boy With Luv (feat. Halsey) – BTS

Live View Rearview Mirror Prevents a Blocked View

This is great when you have a car full of tall people, or you’re loaded to the roof after a Costco run. The rearview mirror displays a live image of the area behind the car with the flip of the camera lever.

I think some drivers will find their groove with this option, but I personally had a hard time changing focus from seeing out the front window and then being able to switch focus to the rearview camera. I ended up using the mirror the majority of my time driving the XT5. Still, it’s a good feature to have when you need it.

UltraView Panoramic Sunroof

A sunroof brings in light and makes any car feel more spacious inside. The extra-large sunroof opens about halfway in the XT5 and is a welcome addition to the already bright, spacious interior. It adds the level of luxury that you would expect in a Cadillac.

Branded Puddle light & Motion-Activated Liftgate

With an armload of groceries, I was walking back to the car in an underground parking lot when I noticed the branded Cadillac logo projection light on the ground behind the XT5. I love these details! Then, I decided to see if this car also had a motion-activated liftgate with the kick of my leg under the rear bumper. I was pleased to see that it did. This feature sure comes in handy your arms are loaded with bags, kids, and gear.

The Cadillac XT5 Sport trim offers a robust list of features, as you can see, as well as a 14-speaker premium Bose sound system and automatic high-beam headlights.
