Jaguar I-PACE Sweeps the World Car Awards as 2019’s Best Car in the World

World Car Awards

The Jaguar I-PACE, the World Car of the Year for 2019

Meet the other World Car Awards winners and also, the very fine awards finalists.

“This is my Oscar moment and I’m going to just soak it up,” a grinning Ian Callum said from the stage as he accepted the third award for the Jaguar I-PACE, the brand’s much applauded all-electric SUV. The I-PACE won World Car of the Year, World Green Car and World Car Design of the Year awards at the 2019 New York Auto Show.

It was a tough competition in every category. But that’s the job of World Car’s 86 jurors, all journalists who test drive and evaluate cars throughout the year. They make a car buyer’s job much easier.

World Car Awards evaluates cars from markets around the world, not just North America, but on every continent and picks the best of the best. Before they can vote on a particular car, jurors must have test driven them and collectively, they have driven nearly every car on the market.

Here are the World Car Award winners and the field of finalists, as well as our reviews and opinions on the ones we test drove.
