Even if you’re not a huge Star Wars fan, it’s hard not to be excited about the new movie. Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens tomorrow so marketing tie-ins are everywhere you look. Being both a fan of Star Wars and cars, Dodge has captured my heart with its new ad that brings the two together.
Did you see Java Da Hutt? Did you see Han and the cutest Chewbacca to ever grace the planet? If you missed them, then go back and watch it again. This is one of my all-time favorite car commercials. It sits right up there with the Volkswagen ad where Dad pushes the remote start on his keyfob so his kid thinks he used the Force to start the car.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) created separate ads for each of their divisions. The more of a Star Wars fan you are, the better the ads because you’ll immediately see how they played off of scenes and dialogue from the films. They’re all good, but my favorite is Dodge. I guess I have a thing for the Dark Side.
Sadly, there are no actual Dodges driven in the movies because FCA has not yet made its way to a galaxy far, far away. I imagine that if they open a branch on Tatooine, Vader will absolutely be comissioning a custom Dodge Viper for his days off.
