From Economy to Luxury: Mazda and Jaguar recalls
Jaguars, which retail for over $100,000 are luxury performance cars, so the recall, which Jaguar said can come from “prolonged, aggressive driving’ probably covers the way most Jaguar drivers use their automobiles. The defect affects the braking of the 2013-14 XJR, XFR-S and XKR-S GT models; the wheel can suddenly lean and cause an accident.
However, no accidents or injuries have occurred. About 300 cars were recalled.
There is a separate Jaguar recall of 2013-14 1,600 XFs; the cars stall because the air-cooler hose can detach.
Meanwhile, Mazda is recalling the popular 2014 Mazda 3 and 2014-15 Mazda 6 cars due to a problem with the regenerative engine braking system. The recall, which affects 5,700 cars, highlights a problem in rainy conditions, when the charging of the car could stop and the engine could fail. Mazda knew about the problem last year, but thought the warning light that comes on was sufficient.
The Mazda recall follows a similar one in Japan for the same problem.
There have also been no accidents or injuries associated with the braking problem.
