Passenger Seat Airbag Failures Lead to Second Nissan Recall
Japanese automaker Nissan today recalled 1 million cars because the passenger seat airbag may not deploy in a crash. This is the second Nissan recall for this problem; the earlier recall involved some of the same cars a year ago.
There was also a Nissan recall in October involving brakes on SUVs.
The recall affects the following models:
2013-2014 Nissan Altima
2013-2014 Leaf electric
2013-2014 Nissan Pathfinder
2013-2014 Nissan Sentra
2013 Infiniti JX35/ 2014 QX60
2014 Infiniti Q50
Airbags not are supposed to inflate in the passenger seat if a child is seated there, but the sensors do not work correctly and the airbags have failed even with an adult in the passenger seat.
Dealers will update the software to fix the problem.
