What Moms Really Want for Mother’s Day
We asked the hardworking moms who write for AGGTC what kind of car they'd like to find in their driveway with a big, red bow on it for Mother's Day.

Skip the chocolates, bouquet of roses or a gift certificate to the spa. We asked the our team at A Girls Guide to Cars, moms and love to review and write about cars, what they really want. So, instead of *guessing* what array of See’s Candies they’d like or what kind of breakfast they’d enjoy being delivered in bed for Mother’s Day, we asked an even more tantalizing question:
“If you could wake up and see a car in your driveway with a big red bow on top of it for Mother’s Day, what would it be?”
Some opted for a family-sized SUV, some wished for a classic, rugged off-roader, and others dreamed of a real-life race car. Not only did it start a fun conversation about the best car to be surprised with, but it also helped us realize how each woman’s unique response makes our site so fun.
Get ready for the most eclectic Mother’s Day dream car collection ever. And husbands, take note!

Our Founder Wants to Get Back to the Basics

Scotty Reiss, our site’s founder, said she wouldn’t be upset if she woke up to a Jeep Wrangler in her driveway for Mother’s Day. Having reviewed insanely fancy and expensive cars from Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Lincoln, and Lamborghini, she’s used to experiencing the ultimate comfort, luxury, and performance on four wheels.
But there’s something about a Jeep’s rugged purpose and design that draws her in.
“I’d love to see a Jeep Wrangler in my driveway,” Scotty mused. “Simple, with a manual transmission, a soft top, white leather upholstery, and four doors.”
Her Wrangler wouldn’t be a pavement princess, though. She’d immediately use it to reconnect with nature and escape from the hustle and bustle of the Lone Star State.
“And I’d love to find a shady trail to drive out to a glamping site for the weekend; a campfire, fun dinner, guitar music, fireflies, and cool breezes,” she said. “We have an Infiniti QX50, which I love, but I’d love something more back-to-basics, other than the white leather. Every car needs white leather.”
Natalie Merola Has an Insatiable Need for Speed

Natalie “Kitty” Merola is a visually impressive and incredibly knowledgeable car-lover. She, her husband, her son, and her readers not only enjoy her reviews of just about anything with an engine (or battery!), but they also enjoy her fashion sense, sense of humor, and enthusiasm.
She currently owns a 2023 Chevy Trailblazer RS, but there’s another Chevy that she’d love to be gifted for Mother’s Day.
“If you could wrap a big hot pink bow on a Barbie pink 2025 Corvette Stingray Convertible, that would be amazing,” she said.
Why did she choose pink? Well, if you haven’t seen her videos or spotted her outfits, pink is perfectly on-brand for her.
“I need maximalism and bold colors,” she said. “Of course, I love driving with the fam, but I miss having a sports car and those solo drives.”
Holli Craves the Capabilities of a GMC Hummer EV

Holli Fourniquet, a fellow Texan, has quite the automotive audience. She’s a YouTuber, podcaster, and boy-mom who loves cars. Normally, she looks at cars practically—hence why she’s currently driving a 2013 Chevy Cruz—but there’s something about the Hummer EV’s boldness and brashness that calls to her.
“I want a blue Hummer EV!” she said. “It’s the perfect mix of fun and freedom.”
The Hummer EV is truly a sight to behold (have you seen crabwalking?), and it’s built to handle just about any terrain. Fourniquet would look forward to excursions with the top down. Aside from it being military-inspired, its EV nature means it could easily be a daily driver.
“Plus, it’s super easy to take the top off by myself and it’s comfortable,” she continued.

Kymri Wouldn’t Turn Down a 3-Row Volvo

Kymri Wilt embraces all that is Southern California—she loves to camp, rock climb, take long road trips, and explore National Parks. And yes, you guessed it, she’s all about going into cowabunga mode on the region’s surfing grounds.
She spent many years in a Toyota Prius, going straight to the beach after dropping her kid off at school. When her nest became empty, she bought a vintage 1968 Toyota van. Even then, it’s not enough space for her laundry list of outdoor hobbies. Therefore, her Mother’s Day wish is a Volvo XC90 (ideally sea foam green or sky blue, like those from the 1970s).
“For a long-haul surf adventure with friends and dogs and boards, this solo mama still dreams of a big roomy 3-row SUV,” she said.
“There’s just so much room for everyone and everything, even longboards down the middle with the way the seats split (yes, I’ve measured). But if the interior is full of people and dogs, the boards go on top. And of course it would be the ULTRA trim model with a panoramic sunroof, so I could keep an eye on the boards, as I blast tunes on the Harman Kardon Premium Audio System.”
Sara Lacey Dreams of Porsche

Sara Lacey is no stranger to performance cars. When she’s not acting as president for the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press Association, she’s behind the wheel of something cool. She’s spent time in the mountains with some of the nation’s toughest trucks, drove laps in a Miata race car, and inherited a seriously cool vintage Porsche from her dad.
So, no one was surprised when she answered that she’d like a brand new Porsche 911 in a classy burgundy color. She currently drives a Tesla Model Y that is economical, but not nearly as fun as a Porsche would be.
“My current car is a Tesla Model Y. It’s about as soulless as it gets. I feel like I’ve enjoyed it as much as I can, and it just doesn’t have any staying power. So I’m going in the opposite direction, full character from the car, the driving experience, and the customization I’d have if I got a new one,” Lacey wrote. “I could pick my colors and even add my own number on the side of the car.”
Now that her children are grown, she would look forward to spirited drives listening to whatever she wanted on the radio.
“The Porsche would be especially fun because I don’t have kids’ activities and school to run them around to anymore,” she said.

Jordan Almond Wants a Car That’s Future-Proof

Jordan Almond is a certified car-lover, just like the rest of the AGGTC crew. She’s currently at the tail end of a wild pregnancy, and while she’s spent many days behind the wheel of some fast and cool cars, she’s thinking practically.
For her Mother’s Day dream ride, she’s wishing for passenger space.
“I would absolutely love a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Passenger Van ready for team toting and road tripping,” she said. “I want something I can fit a friend or two for each of my kids, an extra adult helper or two, and all of our sports or camping gear.”
If it were up to her, the spacious and luxurious van would come in Navy Blue.
And What Do I Want? A Rally Car!

In case you haven’t gathered by now, my family is a Subaru family. Between us we own a Forester and aa WRX wagon; my mother-in-law drives an Outback and my sister just bought a Forester Wilderness.
But it goes deeper than that. I grew up watching the World Rally Cross races on the Speed channel with my dad and held a special place in my heart for the loud, proud, WRX WRC rally cars—especially Tommi Makinen’s Monte Carlo-winning No. 10 2002 Impreza.
When I met my husband, our first date was him letting me drive his 2002 WRX. But I won’t tell him this: I started talking to him because I saw him getting out of it in the Whole Foods parking lot, where we both worked in 2014. Then I got the ultimate job working at the track at Laguna Seca and he let me drive it every day. It would be a full-circle moment for both of us to have a WRC race car in the driveway.”
But alas, the 2011 Forester is my daily driver for our two toddler daughters. To have my dream and the kiddos, I’d have to modify the WRC for rear seats in it, but it would be a fun daily driver.
And while it’s a dream, it’s one worth having, as all our moms who write for us, between wrangling kids, households and full-time jobs, know. So we wish you, all moms out there who do the hard jobs, a sincerely blissful Mother’s Day. Relax and soak up all the love coming your way today.
