For anyone looking for luxury family cars, there are some fantastic options coming in 2018. These vehicles include some of the sleekest and sexiest SUVs and even the only 7-passenger wagon available in the US. No matter how many kids you have, these luxury family cars are the ones everyone want to drive. And if you happen to drive them in car pool, more power to you!
The recent 2017 Atlanta International Auto Show gave me the opportunity to see and compare a wide variety of models. The luxury family cars I focused on all seat seven or eight and include all of the top technology families are looking for. Plus, they all have a luxe feel that can help you forget the kids screaming in the back. Probably.
Top 2018 Luxury Family Cars
1. Mercedes-AMG E-63 S Wagon

The 2018 Mercedes E-63 S Wagon is the only 7 seat wagon in the United States. It is sporty yet practical with extra space that can be used for kids, bikes, or whatever you need to fit in your car. The E63 S Wagon features some useful connectivity and Intelligent Drive functions, like those in the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon. These include DRIVE PILOT, which helps you with semi-automated driving in traffic jams or on routine trips.
This is one of the most unique of the luxury family cars. It has a special throw back feature many parents may remember from their own childhood: It includes seats in the “way back.” Yes, the wagon has rear seats, like the kind you remember growing up!

The difference is these seats are safe, with seat belts and everything. These “way back” seats are not for those in car seats though or those who don’t need much leg room. This could be helpful when you need to transport an extra kid for car pool but probably wouldn’t be a good option for daily use. Expect the pricing for this uber-luxury car to be near the $130,000 ticket price the 2017 model currently holds.
2. Mercedes Benz GLS 450 SUV

The 2018 Mercedes GLS is a totally redesigned SUV. It is a high performance, yet luxurious SUV many parents are looking for. It features seating for seven and easy and quick automatic fold down of the second row seats for easy access to the third row. The leg room in the third row is also quite impressive.
One of the coolest features is the Tesla-like auto-pilot options. The GLS SUV will include the Remote Parking Pilot giving you the option to automatically park the car via a smartphone app…without you in it. No more trying to help the kids get out of the car without banging the doors on the cars alongside you. The optional 360-degree camera which includes a top-down look is another useful feature. It can help you see items, people, and cars all along the vehicle. This will keep you safe in a number of ways, as well as keep the skateboard that was left in the driveway from being crushed. Starting at $68,700, this SUV is definitely a luxury car, in all aspects.
3. 2018 Ford Expedition

The 2018 Ford Expedition is what you’d expect from this iconic SUV. The technology updates though are what makes this one of the most purposeful luxury family cars. The 360-degree camera will help keep you and those around you safe, as will the automated Back up Assist program. This eight passenger vehicle has Wi-Fi capability for up to 10 devices. It also has a 50 foot range for Wi-Fi which makes it especially useful when camping, tailgating, or waiting in the school parking lot with several kids until another one finishes track practice. And for all those water bottles littering your car, there are 17 cup holders in this SUV!
The 2018 Expedition understands today’s families are active and want to be connected via technology all the time. This is why it features a wireless charging station and six charging ports throughout the cabin. The panoramic moon roof may stop the kids in the third row from complaining about not seeing “anything”. Expect pricing to start around $47,000.

4. 2018 Lexus LX 570

The Lexus LX 570 has been refreshed both in the exterior and interior. The sleek grille gives it a sexier appeal, while its third-row seating makes room for babies (lots of them). It’s the mullet of…business in the front, party in the back!
While one of the most expensive of the 2018 luxury family cars (it’s expected to cost about $95,000) it may be worth it to those who spend a lot of time in the car. It will feature dual rear-seat entertainment screens which will be wider (12.3 inches) than in the previous model. There will also be surround sound, USB ports, and multiple armrests. One of the main reasons to buy the Lexus LX 570 is the spectacular safety features. It will include parking sensors, collision course sensors, multiple airbags and a rear view panoramic camera.
