Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow Party Was the Boy-Mom Delight I Didn’t Know I Needed
Boy moms face a particular challenge: Connecting with your kids in a way your parents probably didn’t connect with you. Thankfully, we have Monster Trucks. With any kid, one of the best ways to connect is through their favorite thing, and for boys, that’s often cars, as well as trucks, earth movers and machinery.
Not that I didn’t like cars as a kid, too; when I was young I loved playing with Hot Wheels and watching my dad and brothers working on cars. So, it’s natural that my son and I collect Hot Wheels and attend car shows together.
But when the Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow Party came to town, we had to go. The tour would make a stop at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas and offer all the goodies: A pre-show, VIP experience and all the food, fun and merch we’ve come to love from live events. We decked out in our finest Dickies apparel—totally appropriate for a monster truck show—and headed to the arena where we collected our Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live lanyards, headed down to the floor and got our monster truck collector cards ready for signing.
This story is 100% human-researched and written by me. Dickies sponsored our tickets, food, and outfits. All thoughts are 100% my own, honest, and genuine experience.
Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow Party Pre-Show Sets The Stage
The Pre-Show, which is an add-on to general admission tickets that start at $20 for adults and $8 for kids, is a must for fans. Just over an hour before the show, fans are able to see the trucks up close, meet and greet the drivers, and collect autographs. The event also offers VIP tickets and premium experiences for the ultimate night out.
There’s nothing like seeing your son’s face light up as he walks down the stairs and onto the floor, and watching him have the time of his life running from truck to truck. The show’s monster trucks stood larger than life and their drivers welcomed us with big smiles. This was a great way to build excitement before the evening of heart-racing stunts from the monster truck drivers and freestyle motocross team.
Soon, though, it was time for the Glow Party. My son, as well as my husband and sister, made our way to our seats for the show. Soon, monster trucks outlined in colorful lighting strips were zipping through the arena, putting on a show that would have us shouting, laughing and rooting for our favorites.

Monster Trucks and Us: Forging Precious Memories
For parents, it can be a challenge to pique your kid’s interest for several hours. However, Hot Wheels must have some magical effect. My son locked in on those trucks with fascination that didn’t waiver all night.
Of course we needed food and merch; we were able to order our favorite foods, drinks, and keepsakes and sit back in time for the main event. With the expert crowd work from the emcees, we were cheering on the drivers, announcing their scores as a crowd, and dancing to “Baby Shark” and “YMCA.”
Throughout the event, challenges for the monster trucks garnered audience attention, and we found ourselves as a family scoring the monster truck drivers for wheelies, donuts, the long jump, and freestyle.
My sister cheered on 5-Alarm, my husband rallied for Bigfoot, and my son and I hyped up Mega Wrex. The glowing neon made it easy to cheer for every driver since each one had such a colorful, bold, and unique design—much like my son’s Hot Wheels Monster Truck toys at home.

The Right Clothes—andvEar Protection— For Monster Trucks Live
Heading out to a concert? A graphic tee is a necessity. Taylor Swift show? Glitter, please. Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live is no exception, so as we were prepared for the event, my son picked out his outfit from the Dickies website. A hat, jacket, shirt, and pants? Ready! For rough and tumble activities, Dickies apparel is great, and at the Dickies Arena? Even more fitting,
The clothes he picked were lightweight and perfect for the indoor arena, and easy to coordinate. It made getting dressed before heading out part of the experience too.
I, however, picked out our ear protection. With any car event, it’s important to teach our kids to protect their ears. I packed the ear protection that we typically wear at concerts and the track. This is highly recommended; you can enjoy the show, hear everything with clarity and preserve your hearing when you take them off during intermission or after the show.

Cars Drive Our Family Together
It was a turn of events for me to cheer on my son as he met the monster truck drivers, played with the Hot Wheels and enjoyed the show. He’s usually the one cheering me on as I review cars and attend auto shows for work. This made the weekend even more meaningful for all of us.
My son is big on cars, as is my husband, which is probably what made it easy for me to become a car girl, too. But indulging our son in one of his favorite things is special; it’s an experience we’ll look back on, and look forward to in coming years.
And until then, adding more Hot Wheels to our collection.
