The Ford Maverick Didn’t Need to Get Better, But It Did, Adding Hybrid AWD And Other Goodies
We are smitten with the cute, compact Ford Maverick pickup truck. It’s small enough to park in any garage but big enough to do plenty of heavy lifting. It’s cleverly designed for flexibility for all the pickup truck things, and has enough tech and comforts to not feel bare bones, but not so much it drives up the price. And it’s available in a very fuel efficient hybrid.
And then it gets better. The 2025 Ford Maverick, with a starting price of about $27,000 and a top price just under $40K (read on for full pricing), adds some new features and capabilities that will make it even more popular. It starts with hybrid all wheel drive that will get 40 MPG—prior models were offered in hybrid front wheel drive only, which is still an option–as well as a new Tremor trim. Here’s what else is new for 2025.
Hello, Tremor; Welcome to the Ford Maverick Family
Aside of the AWD news, the new Tremor edition is a big deal. Previously Ford offered a Tremor package on the Maverick, but now it’s a full-fledged trim level, and at the top of the line at that. Ford Maverick Tremor adds all the off-road capabilities of the package option—from off-road suspension, skid plates and trail control to Tremor design details—and now comes with a standard 360-degree camera and one-pedal off-road driving.
Tremor is the newest trim in addition to the XL, XLT and Lariat trims which also benefit from all the style and tech updates to the 2025 Maverick.

The 2025 Ford Maverick Channels It’s Inner F-150
Part of the Maverick makeover includes adding more F-150-like details, from the new headlights to the updated front grille. The Lariat will add 19″ wheels, and the Tremor trim will be distinguished by an orange dual bar across the grille that frames the Ford badge and orange recovery tow hooks embedded in the front bumper.
The Tremor Trim Has Lots of Identifiers
The rear panel decal is only where the Tremor badging starts. You’ll see the Tremor name on the side badge and on the seats, as well as orange details on the wheels, front grille and inside the Ford Maverick Tremor. And, Tremor models have anti-glare decals on the hood.
Updated Technology Gives Maverick Owners More Capability
The new tech starts with the 13″ multimedia screen and a new climate control panel, but it doesn’t end there. Now, Maverick owners can have wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charge pad and Ford’s Sync 4 system with updated voice recognition. And, for the driver, there’s a new 8″ digital driver display.
Also new for 2025 is adaptive cruise control with lane centering and speed sign recognition, all of which will make time behind the wheel even easier.

The New Command Center With Even More Function
We love this: A wireless phone charge pad, an additional cubby that allows you to position your phone so you can see it and the dial gear selector. The phone charger is new but the other details remain; we are glad Ford didn’t change these features in the 2025 model.
These features are in addition to the new climate control panel and the optional Pro Trailer Assist technology. This system, which helps drivers to more accurately a trailer into a spot or onto a ramp, and to align a trailer with the hitch, increases Maverick’s towing to 4,000 pounds.

High Performance Leatherette Interiors Add Style and Function
We are fans of leatherette for its durability, sustainability, comfort and easy-clean capability, so we were excited to see it in several Maverick trims. And in the Tremor trim, the model name is embroidered on the headrests in Tremor orange.
A Small Rear Seat With Clever Features
In the Tremor model the rear seats feature orange stitching and a patterned leatherette. The center console, shown here in navy, holds USB ports, a power outlet and a cutout that allows you to attach accessories from a tablet holder to a dog bowl.
Note that this is a compact pickup truck and by definition the rear seats are not overly large and may not be great for kids in car seats. There are no rear air vents and with the front seats set for a person of average height, rear leg room is limited. Also, rear facing child car seats may not fit properly, though forward facing seats should fit just fine.
Hybrid or EcoBoost, AWD or FWD Options for the 2025 Maverick
Ford offers two engines and AWD or front wheel drive options for the 2025 Maverick. Here’s how it shakes out:
- The 2.0L EcoBoost engine, which generates 238 HP, 275 lb.-ft. of torque, has an 8 speed transmission and averages about 26 MPG
- Hybrid models are powered by a 2.5L engine that generates 191 HP and 155 lb.-ft. of torque, has a CVT transmission and averages 40 MPG in AWD and about 42 MPG in FWD
- XL and XLT are available in both hybrid and EcoBoost and both FWD and AWD
- Lariat and Tremor are only available AWD
- Tremor is only available with the EcoBoost engine; there is not a hybrid option
New Wheels Define Each Trim
Wheels are the accessory to have, and on the 2025 Maverick there are more choices. A Black package option featuring gloss black wheels; the Lariat now is equipped with open spoke 19″ wheels and Ford showed the XLT with gloss black y-spoke wheels. The Tremor’s wheels also feature orange Tremor accents.
Maverick is Still Ford Tough
Ford executives emphasized that though Maverick is compact and flexible, it’s still a tough pickup truck, true to the Ford heritage. Its hybrid and EcoBoost engines have been tested for durability equal to hundreds of thousands of miles to ensure that it can stand up to what its customers demand of it.

- XL Hybrid FWD: $26,295
- XLT Hybrid FWD: $28,795
- Lariat EcoBoost AWD: $35,535
- Lariat Hybrid AWD: $36,735
- Tremor EcoBoost AWD: $39,795

- Add AWD Hybrid to XL and XLT: $2,220

The 2025 Ford Maverick will start production toward the end of the year and go on sale shortly after, though Ford is now accepting customer orders. And with hybrid all wheel drive, a Tremor trim, SYNC 4 and great new towing capability, the package is complete. Expect to see this popular little cutie on the road even more in the coming year.
