Innovations at the forefront in 2016 Honda Accord.
The Japanese automaker, Honda, joins other car companies in the Silicon Valley with an expanded research and development facility. The area known for tech companies such as Apple, Google and Facebook boasts Ford, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen as neighbors.
The Honda Xcelerator will concentrate on developing new vehicle technologies. And at the opening of the new R & D facility, in Mountain View, California, Honda unveiled its 2016 Accord, which the company says is “the first Honda model and among the first high-volume cars in the marketplace to feature both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.” The car also features Honda Sensing, the car company’s new safety and driver-assistive technologies that can make driving easier and help avoid collisions.
According to the Detroit Bureau, Honda also showed the “Future Technology” it is developing, including “sensor fusion technology or the combination of disparate sensor data – to accurately detect and predict bicyclist and pedestrian movement from a significant distance.”
The Honda “Open Innovation” initiative also introduced rear seat entertainment in a virtual reality world. No more complaining from the back seat that your kids are bored with this!
