The Sophisticated 2026 Genesis GV60 is the Most Charismatic Member of Hyundai’s EV Family

Hyundai Motor Group's EV platform gives way to some of the industry's most technologically and stylistically advanced EVs. But here's why the 2026 Genesis GV60 is one of the best ones.

When a car company does something really well, they like to share it—at least with all the brands in their portfolio. That’s the story with Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP Platform, the EV base for some of the most popular and award-winning EV’s (and some of our favorites) like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Kia EV6, the Hyundai Ioniq 9, the Kia EV9, and the star of today’s story, the Genesis GV60.

All the cars on this platform share some pretty stellar features like an 800-volt system that enables ultra-fast charging in the realm of 10 to 80 percent in 18 minutes, a spacious, open cabin, and gorgeous, extra-large screens spanning more than half of the dash. But, I have to be completely honest, the Genesis GV60 is my absolute favorite of the bunch.

It’s not just a car, it’s a whole vibe, and I’m so here for it. It’s quirky but sophisticated. It gives you everything you need with just an extra little bit of pizzazz. If cars were people, the GV60 would be that friend who shows up to a casual brunch in a sequined jacket just because they felt like it. It’s EXTRA in the best possible way, and I love it for that—especially at the price range of $52,350 to $69,900. I also love it for a whole lot more.

This story is 100% human-researched and written based on actual first-person knowledge, extensive experience, and expertise on the subject of cars and trucks.

The Genesis GV60’s Blends Sleek Aesthetics With a Major Splash of Style

On the exterior, the Genesis GV60 is a sleek, streamlined, little thing with undeniable good looks, sporty aesthetics, and smooth curves. It’s got all that Genesis charm from the polished logo to the dual stripe headlights and tail lights, symmetrical and reminiscent of the wings of their logo. It looks so good, unfortunately, my very favorite color isn’t available anymore.

A neon bright lime green was the perfectly quirky color for such a special car. Fortunately, it looks great regardless, and this Tromso Green paint was no exception. Plus, the interior matched beautifully with aqua green and galaxy textiles.

The Interior Crystal Ball: Gimmick or Genius?

First things first, if you’ve ever heard about the Genesis GV60, then you’ve probably heard about the crystal ball. If not, allow me to elucidate. The gear shifter is literally a crystal ball. When the car is off, the faceted globe rests like an embedded jewel in the center console. Press the on button, and it glowingly spins over to reveal the gear shifter. It’s excessively ornate and unnecessary, some call it gimmicky, but I call it DELIGHTFUL!

Is it necessary? Absolutely not. Do I smile every single time it happens? You bet I do. It sets the tone for the whole car; it’s high-tech, but it’s playful. It’s not taking itself too seriously, and I love that. And to take things to the very next level, a fingerprint reader on the center console awaits your touch to fully engage the car.

I Adored the Interior’s Quilted Leather and Rounded Rectangles

Inside this stylish little bubble, the whole cabin feels perfectly sized for a 5’5” person like me and gorgeously glam. Everything is soft-touch, brushed metal, and creamy, plush, quilted Nappa leather. Nothing overly shiny or cheap-looking. It all feels muted, sophisticated, and incredibly premium. The design theme is consistently thoughtful with rounded rectangles, circles, and consistent materials throughout. It feels cohesive and just… distinct.

Oh, and speaking of little quirks that delight, the glove box isn’t a box, it’s a drawer! It slides out flat like a jewelry box or a tray. In many ways, it’s so much more practical than a regular glove box. Why don’t all cars do this? It’s those little details in the GV60 that make you feel like someone actually thought about the human using the car.

Accessibility and Comfort: A Personal Take

This particular human has a little quirk of their own. I’m a right leg amputee, and I drive with my left leg crossed over. So this means that I’m not always comfortable in every vehicle. The Genesis GV60, however, is an absolute dream. There’s tons of room in the driver’s footwell for me to have all the space that I need.

On top of that, the brake and accelerator are beautifully well-blended and responsive without being too touchy, which is really helpful as a left-leg driver. It’s a rather unique situation, but I find that it’s important to share about.

The GV60’s Boost Mode is Awkward but Addictive

Now, let’s talk about driving. EV’s have instant torque. So most of them have an immediate get-up-and-go that can propel you in an instant. The Genesis GV60 is all that and more. This is the Performance trim, which means it’s fast. Like, really fast. But, if you want to go even faster, it has an actual boost button, like a Bond film or something.

Unfortunately, in actuality, it’s a bit awkward to try engage the button on the bottom of the steering wheel while you’re driving. It’s mostly a bit of fun on the odd occasion when you have a good bit of straightaway, or you want to overtake someone easily on the highway.

Regardless, it’s still a rip-roaring ride even without the super spy boost mode. Responsive and nimble with tons of visibility, except for an abysmal view out of the rear window that the digital rear view mirror completely makes up for. The added heads-up display makes navigating a breeze.

So, What Are the Specs of the 2026 Genesis GV60 Performance AWD?

The thing is, I WANT to spend my time in the Genesis GV60. Even if I didn’t have anywhere to go, I’d find an excuse to hop in for a drive. “Sure, honey, I’ll pop out and grab the buns we forgot for burgers. Yes, I know I’m so helpful!” whilst grinning mischievously.

And it’s not just the plush materials and tech-forward cabin, but it’s also some of the premium features like the electronically controlled suspension that uses the front camera to read the oncoming road and diminish the impact of bumps and potholes, and active noise cancelling. Both the ride quality and the sound quality are actively being improved, and it’s lovely. It really allows you to enjoy the Bang & Olufsen sound system, chat with your passengers, or just soak up the quiet of the open road in your silent EV.

So earlier I said that the GV60 has super sweet, super fast charging. Well, it’s not just that. It also has a built-in NACS port. That stands for North American Charging Standard, and it’s the same port that Teslas have and that many other automakers are switching to. This means that you can go to a Supercharger and plug right in. If you want to charge at any other public charger, you’ll have to use an adapter, which is not a big deal at all.

There are other notable features, too, like:

  • Horsepower: 429 hp (standard), 483 hp (Boost Mode).
  • 516 lb-ft of torque
  • 0-60 mph in approximately 3.7 seconds with Boost Mode.
  • 252 miles of range on a full charge
  • Charges 10-80% in about 18 mins with a peak of 350 kW DC

The Genesis GV60 is More Than Just a Car—It’s a Vibe

Ultimately, the Genesis GV60 isn’t just a car; it’s an experience. It’s quirky enough to be interesting, premium enough to feel special, and fast enough to be thrilling. It feels like a car designed for someone who wants to have fun. It’s got character.

From the crystal ball to the extra embellishments to the booster button, it just made me smile every time I got in. And honestly? That’s something that I really love. A car that can make me smile and feel good while I go about my day.

The quirkiest, prettiest, and most fun of all the E-GMP vehicles, the GV60 is like the Kia EV6 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 all dressed up for a night on the town. And I love it.
