These Kindred Spirits Let Us Get More Done: The Ford Super Duty/Carhartt Collab
A first look at the 2027 Ford Super Duty Carhartt—a functional partnership between two Detroit icons designed for the skilled trades.

I’ll be honest, I am not your typical Ford Super Duty driver. I know much more about family SUVs and the occasional sports car than heavy-duty trucks built for businesses and job sites.
But I do know this: Pickup trucks, especially trucks like the Ford Super Duty series, are the backbone of small businesses in the US. They tow, haul and deliver the power that construction sites, ranches and tradespeople need to accomplish their jobs and to provide critical products and services for us all.
This story is 100% human-researched and written based on actual first-person knowledge, extensive experience and expertise on the subject of cars and trucks. Additionally, I was Ford’s guest for this sneak peek at this partnership.
A Reputation For Get-It-Done Resiliency

Carhartt, the familiar workwear brand, shares a similar reputation: it’s the go-to for dependable and reliable construction that won’t leave you in the lurch when you need it.
So it makes sense that these two brands, neighbors in Detroit, partnered to create the 2027 Ford Super Duty Carhartt edition and the ongoing partnership between these two brands. The result isn’t just a Carhartt badge slapped on a Ford Super Duty—it’s an intentional and functional collaboration that actually means something and a nod to the people who keep things moving every day.

Ford and Carhartt: Both Detroit Born and Bred

To understand why this partnership feels so authentic, all you have to do is look at a map. Both Ford and Carhartt were born in Detroit, just one mile apart. In 1889, Hamilton Carhartt founded his business in a modest Detroit loft, driven by the goal of providing railroad workers with rugged apparel and a promise of “honest value for an honest dollar.” Fourteen years later, in 1903, Henry Ford incorporated his company, also in Detroit, on Mack Avenue.
These companies didn’t just grow up in the same city; they’ve always shared the same job sites as well. For over a century, essential economy workers have woken up, pulled on their Carhartt bibs, and climbed into their Ford truck to go to work. Carhartt provides the workwear, while Ford provides the horsepower. Born out of pride in their Detroit roots, this truck is a collab that just makes perfect sense.

Both Companies Honor the Essential Economy

While this collaboration is rooted in history and Detroit pride, it’s also about celebrating the essential unsung heroes who are building our future. We’re talking about the “Essential Economy” workers, the backbone of our daily infrastructure- roughly 95 million workers across 3 million businesses. These are the people who build, move, and maintain the world around us. Ford and Carhartt are committed to an ongoing partnership to support workforce development, community building, and durable products that help strengthen and support the skilled trades.
Ford is providing the power and mobility, Carhartt is providing the protection and durability needed to get the job done. This truck isn’t about branding for the sake of flash; it’s about providing a reliable tool for the people who build America. It’s functional, rugged, and shares the same tough philosophy that both brands have championed since the 1920s.

The Partnership That Resulted in Some Cool Details

The collab reflects a Carhartt-inspired design that is focused on function over decoration. The Carhartt package will be available for Ford F-250 Super Duty XLT Crew Cab single rear wheel 4×4 pickups, one of the true hard workers in the Ford Super Duty family. Last year, Ford designers visited Carhartt’s Detroit flagship store to find inspiration. Here is what buyers who opt for the $4,195 Carhartt package will get:
The Wheels: The matte and gloss 20” aluminum wheels are inspired by the industrial manhole covers in the street outside of the Carhartt store in Detroit. The Super Duty comes equipped with all-terrain tires.
The Seats: While one would expect to open the door to see that signature Carhartt brown colored duck canvas all over the seats, the interior is actually a durable yet surprisingly soft fabric named “Hamilton Gray” after Carhartt’s founder. The heathered gray fabric is designed to hide stains and liquids will “bead” on the surface for up to 30 minutes. Perfect for coffee spills or rainy job sites.
Floor Mats: The rubber floor mats include both “Super Duty” and Carhartt logos. The small diamond pattern is easy to clean and is an exact match to the bottom of Carhartt’s tool bag.
Bed protection: Every Super Duty Carhartt comes with a spray-in bed liner, essential to any work truck. The off-road running boards are also sprayed with the same protective coating to match. There is a textured, semi-transparent graphic placed low on the truck to add a layer of protection from rock chips, road salt, and worksite grime. The decal includes one of the 13 Carhartt logos on the truck while allowing the paint colors, such as Neptune Blue and Marsh Gray to show through.
The Best Partnerships Are Those That Really Get Us

The 2027 Ford Super Duty Carhartt edition will be available to order starting May 8th. This collaboration explores the perfect intersection of heritage workwear and automotive craftsmanship. It’s a nod to local Detroit pride and a reminder that sometimes the best partnerships are the ones that have been right next door all along.
