Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango Affected by Chrysler Recall
Chrysler recalled 867,795 sport utility vehicles, the 2011 – 2014 model-year Grand Cherokees and Durangos because of a brake defect. The brake problem, which has lead to one accident and no injuries, occurs when water corrodes part of the brake.
Chrysler will examine brake boosters on recalled SUVs and add a shield that prevents water from entering the brakes.
New SUVs in production are protected against the brake corrosion with a coating.
Chrysler will contact owners who need to bring their sport utility vehicles in for inspection and the fix.
