Seriously, though. Did you know Buick made a station wagon?
No, we’re not talking about the Enclave. That’s a crossover. This is a true station wagon, complete with the low profile, hatchback, and a sleek body style you’ll love. Meet the 2019 Buick Regal TourX. It’s a luxury adventure wagon that will take your road trips to the next level.
We all know there’s a brand that specializes in adventure wagons. And while this competes well with the Subaru family of vehicles, it’s in a class all it’s own when it comes to luxury and style.
Buick was seen for many years as a brand for a more mature audience, but they’ve turned up the charm these past few years and captured the hearts of a younger audience. And with the Regal TourX they’re reaching a whole new audience.

What This Luxury Adventure Wagon Costs:
- TourX base price: $29,070
- Preferred base price: $32,670
- Essence base price $35,070
I like that all the models include keyless open and start. To me, this is a must-have for a new car cause I really dislike digging through my purse to find my keys! The Wifi capabilities, automatic headlights, rearview camera, and adjustable headrests are just a few more of the standard for all models features that you’ll love!
The Preferred model is a step up with an 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, auto dimming rear-view mirror, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the ability to add a few of the more premium add-ons without making the full jump to the Essence.
The model we drove was the Essence. This added some cool features like an upgraded 8″ infotainment screen, a premium sound system with HD radio, wireless charging, LED headlamps automatic headlamp leveling, park assist, lane change alert with blind spot detection, memory settings for driver’s seat and mirrors (heated!), 4-way power seats for driver and passenger, adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, and a premium paint job in White Frost Tricoat which is a beautiful white with gold fleck. With the delivery charge included, it came in at $41,000.

Let’s start with fuel economy because that’s important when you live for adventure. The trails and slopes aren’t always just outside your backdoor. If you’re one of us who has to road trip to get there you’ll appreciate the sedan-like fuel economy of this luxury adventure wagon! We averaged 27 mpg the whole week we had this vehicle!
Secondly, we’ve gotten several questions about this car’s power. People are skeptical of the 4-cylinder engine… something you’d expect to find on a compact or mid-size sedan. Our very first drive put all these fears to rest. The 2.0L Turbo gives you a real boost and you’d never guess you were driving a 4 cylinder car. It has plenty of get-up and go… exactly what you want out on the road.
In days gone by, all-wheel drive vehicles were reserved for those who really needed them, because they weren’t very fuel efficient. But the TourX is the perfect marriage of comfort and practicality, keeping you safe on the road without compromising.
Holy cargo space, Batman!
Long enough for a third row, this wagon says pfft to more passengers cause it knows what you really need space for is gear. And lots of it. Never seen a car with tracks and tie-downs in the back for gear? Now you have! You can also get a substantial (and oh so sleek) roof rack for your extra long items. Personally, I think it looks even better with the roof rack. While there is tons of cargo space without putting the second-row seats down you can expand that to over 73 cubic feet by putting the rear seats down… and those are configurable with multiple options so you can put down just one, one and the center console, or all three.
Technology Galore!
I get pretty excited when I see things like Apple Car Play and Android Auto in a vehicle. Being an older-iPhone user, the wireless charging feature doesn’t help me much, but I love that it is there for capable devices. Maybe someday I’ll own one and be able to say goodbye to cords. 🙂 With Apple Car Play I can very easily enjoy my own music and load my phone’s Google Maps right onto the screen. I enjoyed being able to text without taking my hands off the wheel or my eyes off the road! The Buick’s infotainment system read my incoming messages to me and allowed me to dictate messages back.
You’ll also enjoy SirusXM, OnStar and 4G LTE Wifi capabilities. These are services you’ll pay separately for, but the 8″ infotainment system is all pre-loaded with the apps and settings to make connecting to these services simple.
A Car that Knows You?
In addition to the tech goodies above, Buick has a customizable infotainment system. You can set up profiles for drivers where you can store your favorite climate and entertainment settings so that when you get in, all you have to do it select your profile and all your settings will be remembered. I set this up in minutes, just to test it. You will need to download their app, and set up an account online. You’ll get an email with a link to verify your account then you’ll be ready to customize your profile with all your preferences!
This Wagon is For Grown-Ups
While some wagons have a young vibe – and a jump seat in the cargo area for extra passengers– the Buick Regal TourX feels more mature. Its sleek lines appeal to an audience that wants both adventure and luxury. We think this really sets it apart from some of the other adventure wagons on the market. It comes with a premium Bose sound system and the triple door sealing, acoustic laminated glass in the windshield and front windows and suspension tuning help reduce, block and absorb unwanted noise in the cabin so you get a quiet ride where you can really enjoy the music coming through those great speakers.
And, the price is on-point for what you’re getting; a true luxury wagon without the price tag of some of the other luxury brands.
