More Bad News for GM With Another Recall
General Motors just can’t catch a break. The beleaguered Detroit auto marker, which is facing close scrutiny and potential lawsuits in its ignition switch recall just recalled 56,000 Saturn Aura cars from the 2007 and 2008 models.
The problem this time is a cracked transmission cable that won’t allow the car to shift into park. The car can then roll away and crash.
Saturn Aura Under Fire
According to the New York Times, this is the eighth General Motors recall in less than a year and a half.
There was a GM recall in 2012 for a similar problem in Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 sedans.
In a statement to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, General Motors said that dealers will fix the problem in the Saturn Aura by installing a shift cable assembly and mounting bracket.
