Who is Ready to Power Shop? What We Want to Take Home From the 2020 Chicago Auto Show

Chicago Auto Show

The auto industry came to Chicago to show off its best.

And while the Chicago Auto Show is never a disappointment, this year is filled with some beautiful cars and trucks that leave us dreaming of spring and adventure. Here’s what we saw a the show that we’ll be dreaming about all winter.

Chrysler Pacifica

Our favorite minivan just got better. Not only does it now come with all wheel drive, and I can’t emphasize that enough how great that is, it’s also sports a fresh new front grille and updated technology.

2020 Nissan Frontier Pickup

Need a pickup truck that can go the distance? Nissan presented the updated Frontier and gave a set of keys to one of the first off the line to Brian Murphy. This is a guy who can really use a new one: he drove his Nissan Frontier more than a million miles!

Toyota Highlander XSE

We’ve fallen for sporty muscle-car incarnations of some of our favorite cars and SUVs and now the Highlander is in that category. It has a more muscular look, more power and a sport interior. Yum.

Genesis GV 80

We fell in love when we first heard about a luxury SUV from Genesis. As a fan of this more-serious-luxury-for-the-money brand, we are thrilled that there is now an SUV. Get a close look so when it hits dealerships later this year you’re ready to go.

Hyundai Sonata Hybrid – With a Solar Panel Roof!

THIS is what we’ve been waiting for. The 2020 Sonata, which might be the most talked about car of the year, has been redesigned with one of the most forward-looking design philosophies (those headlights and running lights are seriously gorgeous). And now it’s available in a hybrid that gets 54 MPG and has a solar panel roof that also helps to charge the battery. THAT is cool.

A Redesigned VW Atlas

When you’re doing something really well, do more of it. Right? That’s Volkswagen’s philosophy with the Atlas. The 3-row SUV just got a makeover with a refreshed new look on the outside, a new phone app that gives you some control from afar and a new steering wheel with the brand’s updated logo. This car is still setting sales records since it made its debut three years ago (sales were up 37% in 2019) and we’re not surprised. It’s a great SUV.

Really Get Off the Grid in the Jeep Gladiator Mojave

We love the flexibility of the Jeep Gladiator and the custom lifestyle-based models that Wrangler offers, from Rubicon to Willys. Now, Gladiator is in the swing, too. The Mojave edition is right at home in the desert with all the things you love about a Jeep and the features that fit the dune culture too.

Mercedes Benz Metris Camper

Want to get away? This minivan-sized van can be outfitted for travel, camping or a guest room on wheels. Your imagination is your limit; fill it with any and all that you need, from a kitchen to the pop-up sleeping alcove. And then, get out of town.

Ford GT: Because You Like to Dream Big

We can’t love this enough: A supercar built from a single batch of carbon. And, it’s even more gorgeous than its predecessors, all its components re carbon, even the wheels, and it has more power (660HP). But you’ll have to wait until 2022 to get one; they’re only making 12 a year and it’s sold out until then.

The Chicago Auto Show runs from February 8th until 17th at McCormick Place in Chicago. Wear comfortable shoes; there’s a lot to see!
