What Do You Get for the Money

The base Mazda MX5 Miata starts at $25,730 USD in the Sport trim with a black cloth soft-top, 4 cylinder 2.0L 181 horsepower engine, and a new-for-2019 telescoping steering wheel. Cloth seating, air conditioning, and 16″ metallic black wheels are all standard.

Move up to the Mazda MX5 RF at $32,945 USD, and you get seriously amazing hardtop that removes at the touch of a button in the coolest possible way.

This just never gets old. I thoroughly enjoyed the @mazdacanada MX5 RF last week, and I felt just a little bit badass every time I put the top down somewhere in a parking lot! As driven and shown herein, we had the Mazda MX5 RF GT (starts at $34,410 USD / $42,900 CAD), so the top of the line version plus the Grand Sport package ($3,600 CAD). The Grand Sport package includes the Brembo front brakes, manual transmission, upgrade to Nappa leather seats, contrasting piano black hardtop, red front + rear calipers and black exterior power mirror.

In the US, this package is called the GT-S package for $700, only available on manual transmission and includes:

I could not find a package for the US Model that included the Nappa leather seats, red front & rear calipers and Brembo front brakes.

The RF GT model also boasts a 9-speaker Bose sound system, a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, 17″ black metallic wheels, and leather seats.

What You Need to Know

It’s an all-around FUN drive for those of us looking for fun over function!

Disclosure: Mazda Canada provided the MX5 RF GT for this review. All opinions are my own.
