This truck can haul!

The Ford Expedition is a huge people mover with power for towing and it’s ready to take your family on an adventure! The Expedition can seat up to 8 if you opt for the second-row bench seating (versus two center-row captains chairs), and has towing capability of 9,200 lbs with the heavy duty tow package or 9,000 lbs on standard models.

With seven seats it’s even more spacious for both adults and children, with plenty of leg room all around, even in the third row. A tall adult would be very comfortable in the second row, there’s even room to stretch out your legs.

The Ford Expedition received a thorough re-design in 2018 and with it, gained more horsepower, a 10-speed automatic transmission, better fuel economy estimates, and a revamped interior. There are no major changes for the 2019 model.

Ford Expedition Offers Most Spacious Interior of Full Sized SUVs

The interior measurements in all three rows are larger than the Expedition’s rivals, the Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon making it the most spacious three-row SUV on the market. Need even more space when all three rows are in-use? The MAX edition adds almost a full foot of rear cargo space.

I much prefer captains chairs in the second row if the use of the third row on a regular basis is necessary. This means that third-row passengers can pass through the second row to climb into the back very easily. However, this means that you can only seat up to seven, whereas with the second row bench you can seat 8.

What Comes Standard in the Expedition? Apple CarPlay and More Technology

I’ve mentioned it before, Apple CarPlay is a must for these reasons:

  1. Voice to text while driving
  2. Making phone calls
  3. Managing my Apple Music while driving on the touchscreen
  4. Maps and navigation; you can keep all your directions and destinations stored in your phone but use them on the information screen

Apple CarPlay comes standard as does available WiFi hotspot, although you must subscribe to the WiFi service through Ford after your initial free trial which starts at $10 per month.

Other included technology is their FordPass Connect App you can download and use to do everything from asking for help from your Ford Dealer, contacting roadside assistance and remotely starting or locking your Expedition.

There are plenty of USB ports throughout the cabin, six in total. Your kids won’t complain about their depleting device battery on a road trip any time at all in the Expedition.

I especially appreciated the 8″ touch screen for managing Apple CarPlay as well as Ford Sync, music, maps back-up camera and vehicle settings.

The dash screen was easy to navigate via the steering wheel controls and had plenty of visuals for tow settings, 4×4 settings, digital speed, compass, fuel mileage and more.

Ford Expedition Was Awarded 5-Star Safety Rating by NHTSA

Not only do you FEEL safe driving this large vehicle, but it scored highly on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s crash testing and comes equipped with plenty of safety features. The array of smart available driver-assist technologies include:

Fuel Economy is Something To Consider in the Overall Cost of Ownership

The Ford Expedition has an average fuel mileage rating for the size and class of the vehicle so you’re going to want to consider the cost of fueling up a vehicle this size when choosing to make your purchase.

The average fuel mileage for the Ford Expedition is 17 MPG City and 24 MPG Highway or 14.1L/100KM City and 10.6L/100KM Hwy. I drove 271 KM (approximately 169 Miles) over a week and experienced 19.4L/100KM, or approximately 14.5 MPG.
