Unveiling The 2016 Toyota Prius In Las Vegas

The 2016 Prius has a coming out party.

I recently attended the “unveiling” party for the new 2016 Toyota Prius as a guest for AGirlsGuidetoCars.com. Toyota created a fun and swanky event in Las Vegas at The Linq Hotel and Casino resort to showcase changes to one of its most popular models. Hundreds of people mingled, learning, eating and “scoping”or showing the new Prius on Perisocope. If you’re not familiar with the Toyota Prius, don’t worry; I wasn’t, either. But I did learn a few things that I thought were pretty interesting during the event that I’d like to share…

The Prius will be among the first U.S. models to offer leading safety features

Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), a new multi-feature advanced safety package is anchored by automated pre-collision braking. TSS bundles cutting edge safety technologies including:

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist
  • Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
  • Automatic High Beams

And as a woman who likes to drive comfortably…

The Prius’ new, premium interior adopts advanced technology complemented by features that are functional, fun and have high visual impact. The wrap-around dash design, form-hugging seats, ease of controls and improved visibility put the driver in complete control.

Hybrid newbie? Me too, but not for long!

Since I’ve never owned a hybrid car, I didn’t really know what to expect. I know that hybrids are better economically, but is that the initial purchase or the cost of owning the car? Well, both. Prius is well priced, starting in the low $20,000’s and its hybrid battery/gas engine gets great MPG. Now, even better MPG: the 2016 will get 55-60 MPG, up from 50 MPG. For someone who spends a lot of time driving the family around, that is definitely a positive for me!

A Sportier new look

And as far as the design of the car, it looks pretty snazzy. Not too sporty, but not too “soccer mom” looking either. It’s got a compact style that makes for easy to park when driving and shopping in and around the city.

As a mom, I like to have a vehicle that is, first and foremost, safe for me and my kid, and is comfortable and easy to do lots and lots of driving in. I admit, I’m not one to pay attention to the rear spoiler, head lamp size or internal combustion.

It was fun to see the new Prius ‘unvelied.’ I can’t wait to try it out behind the wheel!
