At the CX-5 launch, a group of AGirlsGuidetoCars influencers were treated to a conversation with Mazda design chief Julien Montousse. During that time, he explained to us that with their latest SUV, Mazda has taken KODO to a whole new level payday loans online today money. Inspired by Japanese crafts, they worked tirelessly to eliminate all of the non-essential elements from the design, creating a profile that is akin to the dynamic tension of a sword. “Refined toughness” is what Mazda calls it. We call it beautiful.

#3: You Can Put The Cruise Back Into Cruise Control

A IIHS top safety pick, the new CX-5 has a few new safety features that not only make driving safer but easier at the same time.  Stuck in traffic? Try the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) which can follow the vehicle in front from a standing stop. Also new to this version, Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) which can display road sign information in the Active Driving Display so you can keep your eyes on the road where they belong.

#2: You Can Embrace The D Word

Mazda has done something really bold with its new CX-5 – they announced that a diesel version will arrive in mid-2017.  Given that many are still reeling from the VW/Audi Dieselgate scandal, this announcement comes at time where people are disenchanted with their diesel options, yet so many still love diesel for its efficiency and fuel availability. Mazda has been developing the SkyActiveD technology for years, so this announcement comes at a very notable time. Have no fear, however, Mazda has been very clear about how they will comply and even exceed all of the EPA standards.

#1: You Can Be Pretty, Without Leaving The Car

With all of this car talk, let’s not forget what really matters– feeling great.  Mazda’s new CX-5 also comes in an exciting new color, Soul Red Crystal, which has crystalline depths that really highlight its beautiful design.  Like a gorgeous nail color but without having to do a monthly touch up. Mazda wouldn’t confirm if these highlights minimized wrinkles or evened out skin tone, but we can all agree that everyone looks great in red.
