Who will dominate the luxury market? Mercedes-Benz sales up almost 15%.

Anyone wondering why Lincoln, Infiniti and Hyundai are focusing on the top of their market need only to look at Mercedes-Benz sales figures; they are up almost 15% in the first quarter of 2015, compared to 2014.

The German automaker is battling with two local competitors, Audi and BMW, for the top of the luxury market. There are strong sales for Mercedes in Europe, China and the United Staes.

Hat trick for Mercedes-Benz

The Mercedes-Benz S Coupe just won the 2015 World Luxury Car title besting the BMW i8 and the Range Rover Autobiography. The announcement was made during the New York International Auto Show. The 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class won the World Car of the Year and Mercedes AMG GT sports car won World Performance Car.

Meanwhile parent company Daimler AG reports a 25% rise in its eco Smart car.
