Hyundai Veloster’s New Starring Role? Helping Super Heroes in Ant-Man and the Wasp

Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp is set to rock the summer box office, boosted the sporty Veloster.
Whether or not you’re a huge Marvel or comic book fan, Ant-Man and the Wasp is a fun family film. A sequel to Ant-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp is an action-packed heist film full of heart with a strong family theme woven throughout. It stars Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne/Wasp, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, as well as a slew of great supporting actors, including Abby Ryder Fortson, Michelle Pfeiffer, Laurence Fishburne, Hannah John-Kamen, Judy Greer, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Pena, David Dastmalchian, and Tip “TI” Harris.
There is a lot of great technology (futuristic and real) in the movie, but one of our favorites is the shrinking technology used throughout the film. In an instant, a car can go down the size of a Hot Wheels car even while in motion. This helps the main characters throughout major battles in the film and the newly redesigned Hyundai Veloster plays a key role. It’s Hyundai’s Hollywood debut, and I sat down with Hyundai Senior Group Manager of Brand Marketing and Advertising Monique Kumpis to get the scoop on the synergy between Hyundai and Marvel.
The Synergy Between Hyundai and Marvel
Marvel is no small partnership to secure. Hyundai has been working with Marvel on product placement in their properties since 2015 when they first placed vehicles in the Netflix series Daredevil, but this is the first time a Hyundai vehicle has had a starring role in a major motion picture film.
Kumpis shared that one of the reasons that Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Marvel in general, was a good collaboration for Hyundai based on shared ideas and values was, in part, the fact that there was a large audience and built-in fan base. Kumpis said, “We’re fans of Marvel as well and we want to be a part of the experience.” This film partnership is part of a global marketing initiative to launch the newly redesigned sporty Veloster coupe while also increasing Hyundai’s brand awareness among Marvel fans around the world.
“Each vehicle is aligned with key characters in the film,” Kumpis said.” While the Veloster kind of steals the show and is the hero vehicle in Ant-Man and the Wasp, it’s not the only Hyundai featured in the movie or that’s decked out with some rad Pym Tech, the technology created in the first Ant-Man movie that makes everything work from their suits to the cars to the shrinking building. Hope Van Dyne has a Hyundai Santa Fe that features Pym Tech shrinking technology and Cassie’s mom, Maggie, rocks a sweet new Hyundai Kona.

It Might Not Have Pym Tech, but the Veloster has Great Features
We saw the Ant-Man and the Wasp Veloster at several auto shows this winter and I was pleased to see it in a Hot Wheels package at the premiere of Ant-Man and the Wasp last month.
After having now seen the movie four times, I for sure want a new Veloster. Sadly, I can’t get one with the design package that the filmmakers chose or the Pym Tech shrinking package upgrade, but I can most certainly get a brand new one with a number of great features.
Three door configuration gives the Veloster a cool vibe while the interior rocks out features like Apple Car Play, head-up display, Qi wireless charging, and Blue Link tech that includes car finder and remote start. The Hyundai Veloster has everything a superhero needs and more to save the day.
