Ford Service Delivery Network expands connected car services with Microsoft partnership.

We all know not to text and drive. But Ford Service Delivery Network, a new cloud-based service, offers ways for Ford and Lincoln owners to interact with their cars, with scheduled remote start, vehicle finder, gas or charge level and tire pressure. And it also offers a way for Ford to provide information  and updates to customers.

The connected car, powered by Microsoft Azure, is part of Ford’s strategy of looking to the future. According to The Detroit Bureau, the Ford Service Delivery Network will “enable over-the-air software updates for SYNC 3.”

Ford announced that, “connected services such as MyFord and MyLincoln Mobile will migrate to the Ford SDN.”

Mazda already uses the Microsoft system for its connected cars and General Motors uses its proprietary OnStar system to deliver information to customers.
